Nowadays the food court is roped off, with security guards checking vaccine receipts... Where the fuck are we going as a society?
Probably will have to sell the restaurant to a relative, renovate a bit, and open under a different name. I mean, that's what happens to Toronto businesses when a shooting or stabbing happens on premises...

Do you notice engine braking to be less effective on 3rd gens? Might be a side effect of the simulated Atkinson cycle valve timing, resulting in less compression when you aren't on the gas.

That's an accurate statement for sure...but those oem pads at 15K on an MT? Does not compute

i have noticed it coasts on the road in gear off gas longer. i use the 4LO first gear, no gas, no brake "decent control" alot off road on the steeps and in that situation i haven't noticed a difference vs the 4.0L but that might be revving it beyond the atkinson cycle.

i think the dismal pad life is the amount of wet, sandy, muddy, deep puddle off pavement and trail driving i have done with the truck. its only a weekend fun/trip truck for me so a fairly high percent of the kms on it so far is that. when i was racing my mtn bike i went through brand new disc brake pads in single races when it was rainy and sandy (ganaraska).

i ordered a set of OEM pads as replacement but now thinking i should consider something else. any suggestions?

I use Akebono or Advics for the pads whichever are cheaper and buy oem rotors on every other brake job. I get about 40-50K per pad life with my driving.

I remember reading somewhere the factory pads on 3rd gens are semi-metallic, but dealers sell both semi-metallic and ceramic pads. The Toyota ceramic pads are basically the same as Advics AD0976 which I'm running now with the 4Runner big brake upgrade.

nobody has complete 5ft bed for under $200 :pout:

Bobbing the bed requires plastic welding the bed after, if I want to retain tailgate option. wish it was steel like the 1st gens...

With passing the 100k mark a while ago I felt compelled to get a UOA. No real surprises but brings up the question, do I want to go back to Edge for more titanium?

    12k OCI
Toyota oil and air filters (this oil change also has ~500km of very dusty dirt road driving, and a portion behind the resident Russian)
A couple dealer changes, Egde then Kirkland for the last 2 changes.
