Those Element extinguishers look pretty handy. Think I'll buy two for the truck.

People counting on the Element 50 in an emergency are going to be in for a surprise when they get slapped with reality.

    <--FF, they are trash.

For what it's worth, my employer has a fire extinguisher in every vehicle in the fleet. In 20+ years negligence led to 2 accidental discharges of dry Chem in the cab. Make sure the pin is secure and has an appropriate strap. Check periodically. Dry Chem is hard to clean out of an interior.

Glad I saw thisthread. The MMP and extinguisher mount looks to be perfict on the drivers side (sometimes the passanger side turns into a cargo area and access would be blocked). I have car seats in the back, so behind the seat would be very slow access.

If you are set on the Element, go for a couple Element 100’s. I was not impressed with the 50. I tried one on an engine compartment fire during training one evening to see how well it worked. Total fail. I’m sticking with a dry chem in the back if I need one.

I keep mine between the rear driver’s side seat and the C pillar. You have to fold the seat forward to reach it. Fits perfectly snug.

20210721_160446.jpg honestly you don't have to try so hard for this mod. Another note us with wives , I rather not hear her bitch cause there is a fire extinguisher between her legs in the front seat. Mine was simple , just use Toyota hardware bamb mod done .

I also use that corner cubby slot behind the rear seat (there is one on each side). It's a near perfect fit for a standard size extinguisher; almost like it was made for one. And no risk of it becoming a projectile as long as the seat back is latched. And you are not alone; my wife would also raise holy hell if there was one mounted on the front of the passenger seat between her legs.

    Yep

the passenger side rear seat compartment holds a 10lb dry chemical perfectly and securely.

I cringe at unsecured objects like extinguishers.

2.5lb Amerex ABC dry chem on bed MOLLE panel in a 3” Kolpin Rhino Grip Flex mount. Not a chance I’d ever carry dry chem in the cab. Accidental discharge would be an ENORMOUS mess. Highly recommend only carrying clean agent in cab.

You're not referring to the cubby storage behind the seat, right? And instead the little random extra space on the far outside edge between the seat and body. Right?

As in, I would be able to see the extinguisher if I looked, while the seats are latched? I was thinking about putting mine there but I wouldn't want it to rattle around

Correct, I am not talking about the larger storage areas behind the seats along the back wall of the cab. I am talking about those far right and left vertical slots on the outer edges between the seat and body as you described it. Like I said, a standard size fire extinguisher sits perfect on either side in these otherwise unused space.

Its all well and good until the person sitting behind you bashes their skull on it in a crash or if you stop hard. (getting rear ended will probably be enough impact to shoot that thing straight into their face)

Also, I use those same straps to hold my travel fishing rod to my overhead rack.
