What year is his 4runner? If it's 99+ it has these big plates on the end of the horns to mount the stock bumper that have to be cut off.

The 98 and older don't have it. I don't think you will have to cut yours.

Yeah the 96 to 98 4runner frame horns look the same as the 98 to 00 Tacoma.

If you see his grill, it's the same style as '98 and below.

I'm not referring to your top picture, but your bottom one; don't those triangular extensions have to be cut out? Or do they unbolt?

It's a 5 minute job to remove the bumper I'm sure but I have none of my tools with me.

Looking underneath I can't see anything threaded or a hole to go through

The crush cans "frame horns" should just bolt on. But even after you remove them it will stick through the mounting plate for the bumper like on this 98 Tacoma.

Ok ... I've put probably 200 highway miles on this truck in the last two weeks and still the emissions monitors aren't ready :annoyed:

Gonna try this procedure you posted now, what exactly is the cold soak procedure? Allowing the vehicle (engine, sensors, etc) to reach ambient temp from sitting for awhile?

Looked it up and that's about all I can ascertain about it

@Kwikvette you can see on the frame horns here that it just bolts off.

Yes it’s stock. It’s a weird color combo. It’s the dark grey interior

If it had a silver Center stack around the radio it’s one of the very few terminator editions
