I use the toyota app for remote start, remote lock, ect but I haven't been able to open it without it crashing for a few weeks. Apparently toyota is working on it. I downloaded the entune app when I got the truck, but it redirect Ted me to the toyota app.

Yeah. That doesn’t work either. You have to set that up through the Toyota app.

Well, just got off of the phone with Toyota customer service.

They are currently trying to integrate the two systems together but are having trouble doing so. Their advice (I kid you not) is to try again next week.

The rep I spoke to was great. Toyota's policy in the matter is a zero though. Customer satisfaction is unimportant to them.

Entune has been terrible since the beginning. The navigation is terrible. The voice recognition is terrible. Several of the apps related to the system have been taken away. The list goes on.

    Oh well.

Mine doesn’t work at all anymore either. Open Entune and it says open the toyota app. The Toyota app doesn’t have Alexa or anything to work through as indicated by the no longer working entune app. Toyota+Alexa doesn’t connect or do anything either. Definitely frustrating.

I guess I'm in the minority here, because my app has worked fine since I bought the truck. The only issue I had was that after the last app update I no longer got notifications or messages back from the truck, but once I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 15.1 and re-installed the app it's been fine again.

Seems like it's an Entune 2.0 issue currently.

I am having the issue as well. Entune directing me to the Toyota app which doesn't show any Entune functionaiity. I haven't seen any comms or updates from Toyota. Quite a piss poor rollout if you as me.

I don't have a smart phone so I don't know about Entune. My salesman did show me some voice command stuff but it only works it the music is turned off, so I don't bother with it. I listen to my music on a thumb drive plugged into the usb port.

The navigation system is OK but not as good as my portable Garmin Navigator that I use with my other vehicles. And the dealer wants $50CAD to upgrade the Nav system to more up to date info...they are not going to get any $ from me.

I just talked to Toyota and they are merging Entune into the Toyota app. Should be finished next week. When you log in next week there will be a new box to connect account. That will be for Entune.

if you have been having problems with Bluetooth dropping your calls that can be fixed but taking it to your dealership and have them load update T-TT-0578-19. I have a 19 Tacoma.

Thanks for the update. I hope they follow through. To think that they would make a major change like this without adequate testing or warning to their users is staggering. Made worse with no comms as to issue or when it would be fixed.

Yep, even sends me an alert if the doors are left unlocked, window is down, ect. I can view past trips, check mileage, fuel levels, all kinds of stuff... when the app works. Toyota is still working on fixing it.

    very few/small mods
    Sorry, long 2nd post forthcoming...L-2

    https://www.toyota.com/audio-multimedia/section/phone-compatibility/tacoma
Here's one place I looked a few hours ago. Folks, consider going to the referenced webpages, choose your Tacoma year (or any other Toyota if not a Tacoma on further back on Toyota's website); then choose your cell phone brand/model/carrier to see what Toyota says is now compatible.

(btw, I just joined this forum today after my "Entune" experience hitting me just today)

A few days ago, I updated whatever over-the-air audio-system/Entune update and installed Toyota's new Toyota App as it reocmmended. I thought I entered the bare-minimum info into the new Toyota-App but it wasn't very user-friendly. A day or two ago before today, 11/13/21 Saturday, I went to drive my '17 Tacoma and listen to iHeart radio through the on-board iHeart Radio built-in app. The iHeart button didn't start up correctly or link to my phone as it had done for the prior 4 years since owning this Tacoma:(

Later in the day, I found I didn't exactly completely enter everything into the Toyota App and it seems the Entune App is no longer functional and now says the Toyota App is the one to use. This seems to have happened overnight from Friday 11/12/21 to 11/13/21. Prior to this, the Entune App used to say "Connected" now it just refers me to use the new Toyota App. I have an iPhone7, btw. I had to read this several times after several tries as it wasn't clear to me the Entune App is no longer supported.

    Off-Topic Gripe #1.
Being as it's after 4pm Pacific on a Saturday, I couldn't be connected to Toyota's customer service as I must call during its business hours of 0800-2000 eastern M-F or 0900-1600 Saturdays. But it looks as if I would have been told Toyota might be working on it as a previous poster mentioned. Thanks for calling Toyota whoever that was. On a side-note, I wish Toyota had a 24/7 help line for this as all owners might be using our vehicles 24/7 as I do.

    Gripe#2.
The new ToyotaApp isn't merely downloading the app into one's phone. Upon starting it, Toyota asks for a bunch of info; more than a person can enter right away or while driving as it includes email address; VIN; password; and other info I can't even remember. Yet, the Toyota App still came back with an error message of "Internal Server Error". This seemed to be due to my trying to save my Scion FR-S' VIN into my "vehicle garage" part of the app, which supposedly allows folks to enter multiple Toyotas into the "my vehicles" section of the app. I deleted my Scion and it seemed to let me just list both my '03 and '17 Tacomas.

    Gripe#3.
The listed webpage from my 1st paragraph says my iPhone7 will no longer allow me to use the iHeart function, YELP, or Slacker (or whatever it's now called), among other functions. As some will likely remember, we already lost the Pandora music function a few years ago. I switched to iHeartRadio, but now it seems as if I'm losing iHeart too. Apparently, if I had something called JBL Premium audio, I still might be able to get iHeart, but I don't think I have this option as bought. I don't even remember there being an upgraded sound system option back in '17 and I bought however the dealer ordered the truck off the lot, anyway.

    Off-Topic Gripe#4 (now I'm just whining, sorry).
A prior poster said something about the dealer charging $50 to update the nav system. I suspect that's only the labor charge which I estimate to be in the $200/hour range, as I thought I saw a new SD card nav update, just for the part, selling for ~$169 somewhere, and that's if you get the card and plug it in yourself. I actually do often use my portable Garmin more which has free internet upgrades, allegedly for life, but does block the already-limited windshield view.

    OTHER.
It does seem I can now easily use either the bluetooth or "iPod" function and use my iPhone7's iHeart app directly, just as I've already sometimes played my iPhone7's personal music library, which thankfully still works with the on-board Toyota Entune functions. It's just not as safe using my cell phone to select iHeart music instead of the Tacoma's bigger touch screen while driving.

That's all I've experienced with the new Toyota App in a little over 12 hours, today. I was hoping somebody had already started a thread on this/these issue(s). Thanks:) or :(because of Toyota screwing with things again.

On my 2019 OR the iHeart app and Alexa worked fine until the update the other day. Now both don’t work. The screen says to launch the Toyota app. Cannot log into the Toyota app. Very frustrating.
