So I ditched my stockers because they weren't really practical for off road. My 16 Colorado had OEM shorty flaps in the rear (about 1/3 the size of the Tacos and even 1/3 of the Collies front flaps) .

Does anyone make something like this for our 3rd gen Tacos?

Trim up your stockers. Easy to do. Very affordable.

I don't have them but Rek Gen mud flaps look easily modifiable. They're a tad over $100 for a set.

Might try to get the Dremel out and try this. Was going to sell the OEMs on Offerup for $30 in the am (no bites on these for a month) but for that sell it's probably worth a stab to modify them.

Problem is is that I'm OCD. Think if I take my time and use some blue painters tape as a guide I can probably make it work. Just thought there may be a premade solution.

    Thanks all

Take your time and use tape if you like, I found the crease on the 3rd Gen versions made a good guide. Cut them with tinsnips rather than a dremel- you get a cleaner cut. Sand edges and run a flame over them and you will be hard pressed to tell the difference.

Yeah good idea. The Dremel would actually melt and create that burr and other crap. Good lookin' out!

Trimming is super easy. I have cut several sets of stock flaps. Use a good pair of tin snips. Measure from the bottom and remove however much you want in a nice strait cut. Once that is done overlap and use the piece you removed as a template to trace the factory bottom edge. Mark and cut that then lightly sand the edges. Comes out nice.

And the tin snips don't distort the abs going though all of the angles huh?

No, the abs is pliable enough where it just bounces back. You want to make sure you don’t cut all the way to the end of the snips because then it can tear so cut about 3/4 of the length of the snips then get another bite. Works fine.

I would love to help you out but I sold my last Tacoma 3 years ago. If you do a quick google search you should see plenty of examples. I am sure I even posted some pics years ago somewhere on here.

2nd gen, but I bought Plasticolor universals for I think 60 bucks all around. Easy fix and they're more pliable.

It was a really popular thing to do to the 2nd gen front flaps because they were so long they would bend back at highway speeds and would break if you hung them on a curb. Lots of people cut 2-3 inches off the fronts.

Do yourself a favor and remove them to do it right though. Don’t try and hack on them attached to the truck.
