Ok cool and yes I know about cutting to the end of the snips thing. Thank you! How about some pics bros and sis's. I'd love to see how they turned out on your rigs! Realize it's late wherever you are so maybe in the am when it's light again.

Thanks to everyone for your input. A wealth of great info on this site. You all rock!

The stock length on the factory mud flaps is definitely too long in my opinion, and the bottom builds up with crap way too easily. I cut mine using a band saw about a year and a half ago, at approximately one inch above the molded crease. I also feathered the vertical edges so that they taper from the top to about the thickness of the plastic at the bottom. I cleaned up the cuts with a block plane, file, and a little sanding. It was very easy. They both look and work better like this.

Here’s a couple shots of the cut. The pic on the truck doesn’t show them all that close up, but you get the idea. I can take a close up tomorrow if it would be useful.

Oh hell yes. They're been off for a while already. Almost dumped them in the am on Offerup until I started this thread and you hit me back so quickly lol. Cancelled that transaction.

Kind of felt good too because I think this guy was another troll who baits you and never shows up. You all know how that goes.

Found a close up of the front drivers flap that shows how I the altered vertical edge. I forgot just how easily the stock Firestones trapped gravel…

Cracked my aftermarket mudflap in half this weekend offroading. Do the shorty mudflaps still serve a purpose, or is it more just for looks at that point? Seems like it wouldn't block much. If its still functional, though, I may go this route.

If you don't mind a little measuring, the Plasticolors I mentioned earlier are much more flexible so those might cure the problem and you can run them at the same height or different if you wish.

That's what I'm talking about! Looks really good! I would like to go even shorter than that but don't know if the "webbing" on the back will allow for it.

Thanks so much for going through your pics and find that

The flaps still function pretty normally like this. You could go shorter, but I don’t think you’d want to go too much more than what I did if you still want them to work.

Like said my Colorado had OEM Shorty's in the rear and they served their purpose just fine. When I traded her in for this new Taco there were no chips behind the rear wheels with Motometal 0 offsets running ZR2 sized Falkens. The poor hood took all the chips. She was a 2016 with 57k miles so yeah the shorties did the job

Yeah, hear that. The photos look different than in person because you don't get the full perspective. I think it's a good starting point if nothing else. Could always trim more right?!

Did you burnish yours with a torch after you snipped them?

Thank you for the pics! Ended up doing mine tonight, I kept mine more rounded like these. Just used a big pair of tin snips and only required a little bit of sanding.

I do like them better now over the huge dorky ones from the factory. I get they serve a purpose I hope they still block the paint after being trimmed.

Here's that thread! Haha! Yeah I did mine this evening with tin snips too. Posted pics in the "What did you do to your 3rd Gen" thread. Mine are kinda squarish...and I may reshape them and shorten the rears some more.
