I was wondering should I change out for a high output alternator and a yellow top battery so I don’t lose any power after I installing 2 more amplifiers (totaling 3amps ) in my xrunner?

What’s the total max amperage draw from the amps combined?

Yeah, its all going to depend on the total output of all the amps. Im running 3 in my truck, but they are only 300 watts rms each.

I have put in Racesport gen3 leds I'm the process of doing a custom audio overhaul which will include Hybrid audio unity 6x9 mid bass, unity 3 inch mid driver in the dash and fiberglassing tweets in pilar soundeading all the doors, floors, and headliner and I will be using a helix processor to retain the factory radio and as far as subs I might make custom brackets to move rear seat foward a few inches to get a full size sub in there or I might just go with a pair of jl tw5 or tw3 and it will all be powered by jl audio HD amps or I might try out the new hybrid amps
If you want to do it the right way yes you should because oem truck/ electrical are designed to put out what it needs. When you add a extra load you are asking the alternator to work more. When you have a small amplifier the factory electrical is usually enough but the right way is to upgrade the alternator and the wire from the alternator to the battery and also upgrade the factory grounds

How many watts rms? Stock alternator is something like 190amps at isle. The yellow top isn't really going to do anything for you. You may be better off just using a capacitor.

Stock alternator is 90 without, and 130 with tow package. Manny is right, though. I was asking to determine what size alt. would be necessary for you, and the battery too. My 2 amps max current draw is 160 amps, so I have a Mechman 240amp alt, and a Northstar 27f AGM battery with a voltage booster to keep it healthy.

AWESOME THANKS! As for both ground & power wires what gauge would be good?

1/0 gauge, preferably Pure Copper, then tinned copper. At that power though, copper coated aluminum would be a bad choice. Too much heat and more resistance as it ages. Think fire hazard.

To be clear, 1/0 gauge to a fused distribution block, correct fuses for each amp, then 4ga to each amp.
