Off to the parts store for a valve.

 

Almost back together.

 

A little recap since I spent most of the day cleaning up the engine. I still have a couple hours left, but I got hungry.

I was gonna do the head gasket in the mower. After I found out how messy the motor was I opted to just pull the engine. It only takes 5 minutes on these mowers.

Anyways, I was just going to do 1 side, but figured, the HG us only $15, so I did both sides.

You can see these were both pretty bad.

Once I had the motor on the bench and saw how dirty it was, I knew I better do both sides.

I really can't believe how good the thing ran with just about all cooling fins blocked off.

Cleaning up the block and heads u discovered a burnt valve. 50 mile road trip to get a new valve.

Lapped up the valve and reassembled the valve in the head and it should be just fine.

 

That spark plug in that head, it’s a wonder it ran

 

Getting ready to pop it back in. no parts or leftover.

It probably wasn't this clean coming from the factory.

Well, fuck! This think making my nuts ache!

A little help from the team if you can put up with my profanity.

The motor runs perfect, no smoke or clatter. Happy with that part.

I seem to have a heavy oil leak from the center of the valley.

I'm thinking part number 34 gasket is bad.

Can I get a confirmation that if this gasket is bad, I'm gonna have a pretty bad oil leak?

 

Can you put very low pressure air on the crankcase and spritz with soapy water?

 

Backhoe off and leaf sucker on. Was able to bribe my son to drive for me.

 

That would work. I still have to pull a bunch of shit off the top to get where I could see the bubbles.

I'm switching from end wrenches to Coors.

Finally put the boat away for the season. The tractor came in handy yet again for shuffling it into the shop where I couldn’t get the angles I’d want with the dually.

I was going to pull the engine on the new 3225 mouse house today but am sick as a dog and had damage control on the cars all day. No tractor working for me. Feel half dead.

Yeah, me too. I wanted to order parts and have them here over Thanksgiving. I'm on vacation from TG day all thru the week after.

Valley gasket was toast!
