ADS bumps. I really appreciate their can design. They’re made like King cans, but with a clamp on the bottom. Makes life a lot easier.1E8743AB-0AB8-4F94-B6CF-F5E2D798A3C7.jpg 8A976950-02F1-4D8C-9E2C-667C446A1C1E.jpg

Do you really need to strap it?

On a spring under axle application the shocks will be the limiting factor in droop as opposed to the springs like in the SOA applications where you don’t often see straps.

A couple reasons, the full weight/momentum of the rear would damage the shocks and to avoid leaf separation and the shackle breaking the hanger.

It’s a DMZ SUA, strapped and bumped slightly over 17” like most.

16s, they are set up to be vertical at full droop and and around 7 degrees compressed if I remember correctly.

Curious how could it run 17 inches of travel on a 16inch shock?

The greater the angle the shock is placed at, the more exaggerated the wheel travel will be relative to shaft travel.

I forget the formula and it only loosely works with a leaf pack, but it’s a relationship between the shock angle, travel and sin.
I think at 7 degrees it’s an extra 2” of travel, but like I mentioned, the arc that the shackle moves in, and the shortening of the leaf pack has the shock perpendicular to the frame at full droop, so that sin calculation is diminishing while moving from full compression to full droop.

I’ll have to look in my notes for the formula unless someone smart chimes in.

edit: degrees sin x shock travel (if I have it right) 1.95” in this case.

    Keep looking here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lt-classifieds.471438/page-223

plus it’s Black Friday sale season so you can get a deal on most kits with some retailers - always check for ones that offer free shipping and that are out of state to avoid sales tax which will shave a couple hundred as well usually.

Well who should I decide for a kit? I’ve looked at mcm, btf, total chaos total chaos doesn’t even offer cvs with the kit mcm is reasonable but 12 week lead and btf is like a whole grand more and wider kit 4.5” instead of 3.5”

Either of those are good options - I don’t think there are any trails where 2” will make it or break it considering you’re still narrower than a 2nd Gen with 1.5” wheel spacers.

Yeah, again I'd just go with ADD CV's and spindles and keep the manual jackshaft so that at least you can keep the simplicity of the manual setup along with the easy to source ADD extended length CV's. That way you'd only need new spindles and get the CV's that are easy / inexpensive. Manual hubs are great for less tearing in CV boots, but a long travel setup will already give you better CV angles by nature of longer CV shafts. Regardless you'll need custom CV shafts for the manual hub setup no matter what kit you get.
