You guys and gals are a great source of information and I learned a lot here but...
The Tacoma I had wasn't the one I wanted (I was not knowledgeable and the dealer pulled a fast one on me, switching a short bed for a long bed and I didn't catch it soon enough). I drove it for 3 1/2 years and recently traded it in for a RAV4. I got close to what I paid for it on trade in (more that the RAV4 cost).
Anyway, love this forum, y'all enjoy your Tacos.

I was at the dealer test driving Rav4s when I bought the Tacoma.... With a 70-mile round trip work commute I almost regret it at the pump sometimes... Almost.

    Enjoy the new ride!

Hay bud I had a RAV4 before my tacoma and my wife owned one too. They are great commuters, good small family vehicle, good for a couple dogs , and dependable. Thanks for sticking around . Yeah stealerships suck balls . I shut em down right at the get go or if I wanna embarrass my wife I'll let them do their spiel , get winded , then put em down . I'm the mofo customer here and it's my mofo money. Not theirs . Sorry I hate salesmen.

I guess I’m spoiled, I have a Tacoma, RAV4, and Corolla. I get to baby my Tacoma even more having the Corolla to boot around in, my wife drives the RAV4 daily but we all run the miles up on the Corolla.

At least you stayed with the Toyota Family

Sounds like you wanted a RAV4 over a Taco, or you would have got the the right Taco this time. Either way, cant go wrong with a RAV4, great choice.

Congrats! My wife has a Rav4, great car and many times we choose it over my Tacoma for drives.

Thanks for your replies. My main need for a truck was deer hunting (didn't want the deer in the same compartment I'm in). I also like hunting by myself. It got to where I didn't want to have a heart attack dragging out a deer (I'm 68 and a scrawny little thing). I figure if I hunt again I'll go with somebody with a truck :)
Loving the RAV4. Much better salesman.

I had a rav4 before my tacoma. Those things feel like go karts after driving a long bed around for a while.

    Enjoy your new rav!

Good luck with the RAV4. I just hope you took your business to another dealer after being burned on the Tacoma.

I'm 79 and am a tall scrawny thing. I already had a heart attack last year....sitting at my computer. Gotta watch those darn computers. Still deer hunting this year....very carefully. Oh...my wife is trading her 2015 Tacoma for RAV4 Hybrid, but I'm sticking with my 2018 Tacoma for a while...to haul deer, etc. :)

Man I can't tell you how many times I needed the bed to be half a foot longer. Would've killed for a long bed. But then on the trails I was happy I had a short bed :notsure:

Good luck man. I'm 58. I have no clue what I will get next. My mind says Rivian... or a 1978 Chevy short bed C10. Who knows lol.

I traded a 2019 Rav4 hybrid for my Taco. The only reason I did it was because I got a motorcycle and wanted to be able to tow it on a UHaul trailer when needed. The Rav4 wasn't going to handle that. Other than not being able to tow and it having a bit less room for the driver than I liked, it was a great little car and got outrageous gas mileage for a compact SUV. I'm sure it will be a reliable and enjoyable vehicle for you. Best of luck with it! :)

My brother had thoughts about buying a toyota pickup, but all of them were too big for his needs. He ended up with a rave4 hybrid and really liking it. Lots of power and good fuel economy, plus it spacious enough to hold everything he needs.
