Indeed. I was able to achieve the drill method but it sure as shit wasn't easy. Honestly, if I knew ahead of time how much of a pain in the ass it was gonna be I probably would have saved myself an hour or so of measuring and remeasuring, and marking and remarking, and sizing up drill bits, and blah blah blah and just hacked up the damn stripping.

 

Taco twonz seems to be the most in-depth video. So is drilling the holes in the weather stripping what’s hard?

 

Yeah because of the "metal spine" that runs through it. It wants to kick the bit out. And I just found it annoying sizing up bits. I used a Dremel with a metal cutting wheel to cut through the spine on the backside. That did make that part much easier.

 

I was thinking the same thing. Wish they could look fresh and new without getting slippery from whatever they tell me to spray on it.

 

Filters every 5K; synthetic oil every 10K.

 

Plastic filter housing has metal threaded insert where the drain device goes.

 

It does. Don’t think it’s intended to be installed. I install, drain filter housing, then remove.

You’ll want to change the filter housing to the metal one. Someone posted the link (sorry can’t remember who) a few posts ago. I kept thinking i was going to break the plastic housing.

Same wrench fits. Housings are same, just different material.

Filter should be done with the oil change along with a new gasket

 

They are a great running board and I highly recommend. They are well built and I have had no issues.

In my day it was OIL change every 3K. filter every other oil change.

I guess we don't trust filters any more.
