4 vs 6 cylinder Tacoma

It worked ok on flat ground but still slightly under powered. I believe it is just a lot of weight for a 4,000+ lb. vehicle. IMO 200-230 HP would have been adequate but I'll not complain about the 278 HP, it brings out the kid in me at times...

 

For me, mpg was important.
The I4 auto is rated at 20/24 mpg, the V6 auto is rated at 19/24. Both have a combined mpg rating of 19.
I realize real world 'actual' mpg ratings may be different, but I didn't even consider a 4 banger taco after reading that.
Plus, even though I would have been OK with an SR5, I wanted a higher trim.
I went with a DCSB V6/Auto 4X4 Off Road Tacoma. Yeah, it cost more money than an SR/SR5 would have, but it rocks!!!

 

The V6 doesn't get a lot of get up and go anyway.

I use the back seat enough now, I set up a sleeping platform long haul trucker style in the cab. Without the full cab, I wouldn't have the space for it I don't think. If it wasn't for that, I'd be in a 4 banger if I had to do it again. And even with the cab camping setup, I would probably give it a go on the access cab since I'm at/close to the glove box level, if I could run it a lot lower, then I could probably open up more space. Problem is these storage compartments are stamped in the metal - if the floor was full flat, I would definitely be able to make it work in the access cab I think. But with these, I would have to make some significant cuts or changes, this is why my platform is so high in the crew cab.




Anyway, with my ramblings - I would get the I4 if the smaller cab is acceptable for you.

 

You are in the right area, that AC60F sounds like the transmission code.

 

Whatever, i just drive the truck, and its fun.

 

They dont put I4 in Sienna's for a reason....

 

Yep that's all that matters! All 3rd Gen V6 Automatic should be 3.91's though.

 

In my opinion, pulls just fine. Not going to win any races off the line, but no issues. 3,900 lbs well over 100 miles on an Indiana freeway with traffic lights. I've also pulled enclosed trailers a few hundred miles on the freeway. Always been happy with it.

 

The consensus on TW is that 3.9 is marked as 07.
The pumpkin label should have A7 or B7.
A4 was used on 2015 models..
only way to figure it out is to open one and count teeth.

 

Imo, it would have been perfect if 4.10 or 4.11's.

 

Its definitely A4 on my 2020 tacoma. I like where its printed on the door frame MADE IN U.S.A.

Ditto, I have a 19 SR 2.7L w 25k. I drive like a guy that wants it to last that long….so it probably will., God willing.

 

I did not say that. I found both engines to be great, reliable, and perfectly mated to my driving needs. I did say the Access Cab was better suited to my driving needs.

 

Curious to know what makes that number different from the AC60F in my 2020 sr5?

 

AC60F is the code for the Transmission, AC60E would be the 2 wheel drive version.

 

Don't think that's a gear ratio code.

I get that but in Red Alerts above post he has a AO7A number in his 2020 SX 4wd
