I got the Pro tune today on my 21 Pro. The upgraded low end torque curve was much needed after adding about 300-350lbs. Truck feels more lively.

Just had the Kdmax pro flashed as well. My truck was a virgin so nothing to compare. That said, going from stock to the tune is quite transformational. I didn’t think the truck had any significant problems and I wasn’t dissatisfied with the drivability prior but now I understand what I was missing out on. I really like it. It’s definitely not perfect with the occasional lurch but they’re rare and mostly smooth shifting. What I love most is the throttle response. The tuner started out with the LT which I felt was a bit weak. He let me flash the normal one and it’s perfect. No delay, the truck goes when you gas it. I’d say if you commute in stop and go traffic, don’t get normal, go for LT or SLT. There might an even more aggressive sport mode, not sure. Got on the freeway a bit, no gear hunting as advertised and cc worked fine even on hills. Can’t really comment on gas mileage differences, kinda been rallying. Overall, I came in skeptical and nervous but now I feel excited and relieved as this was a big purchase for me. I think it will be worth it and might pay for itself with the mileage improvements they’re boasting. I just hope I get away with it and it doesn’t create some issues down the road or whatever. Hope the review helps.

Thanks for the feedback. Give the tune some miles it should settle in nicely. If you have any issue in after you have put a couple tanks of fuel thru it contact your tuner we will get it cleared up. Enjoy the tune!

Hi BigDave. Any feedback pertaining to octane difference yet? I had about 1/2 a tank of 91 post so I will continue using 91 for the next 3 weeks then turn the tune on its head with 87 for 4 weeks to establish a base line. This is exciting!

Coming for performance cars and this being my first real lifted/modded truck and accustomed to hypersensitive throttling is perhaps why I’m yearning for just a tad more.

I went from a full tank of 93 octane and then to a full tank of 87 to test it out and the power is still there. Overall, I think the truck runs better on Premium, but with the prices the way they are, I am going to run 87 for a while. The Octane Learning part (KCLV and Knock f/b) worked as intended. I monitored it with ObdFusion and watched it do the learning. KCLV for me on Premium was 28.8 and Knock f/b stayed around -3. On 87 octane, KCLV worked its way down to 23.1 and Knock f/b -3 (after learning process) during learning it was -5 to -2. All this was in safe range.

I have 92 in the tank. After loading "pro" , KCLV started at 22, went to 29.6. I did a few long hills, accelerations, slow drives and KCLV settled to 26.6. Knock F/B was between -2-5. I did logging with a slow fusion and only saw -5.5 once.
My "tune" sits at KCLV 24.5.
So compare to 6.0, "pro" is looking better.

500+ miles on the KDMax Pro, sport throttle. Noticeably smoother - did not think that was possible. And I've been telling people as little as two months ago that the KDMax was pretty much as good as it's going to get because it would be very hard to improve upon. Then Kreg and Dave spring this bit of black magic tuning on the KD Tuning Group and surprise us all. Happy holidays indeed! And the numbers @PapaRee and others are seeing with ObdFusion are impressive - better than stock in some cases, maintaining that Toyota longevity and reliability.

Noticeably more umph in 1-3 and whatever mild jerkiness was there from the KDMax LT throttle is gone but for barely when the engine is cold. Highway mpg remained about the same but I was already good 18-20 (295/70's, mid-heavy truck), city mpg definitely saw a slight improvement.
I think even lighter trucks would be just fine on the sport level throttle due to the much reduced jerkiness.

Cruise control was much better with the original KDMax, but with Pro it's downright usable -even for rolling hills at Texas highway speeds of 75-82. Very impressive considering how abysmal cruise is on stock-tune trucks.

The option to now use regular when daily driving is excellent. I tow a camper fairly often so before the Pro I simply left the premium tune on and paid the higher prices for daily driving. No more of that nonsense! I will be towing next month - I expect this tune to be as good at least as the previous tune, most likely better with the increased torque down low.

Very pleased with the KDMax Pro. K&D knocked it outta the park with this one!

As the San Antonio area KD Pro Tuner, I will be offering an extended Holiday special - the KDMax Pro for the same cost as the older KDMax tune until December 31st. (Keep in mind tune install service prices will vary from tuner to tuner, region to region, Canada, US, and Puerto Rico)

Pro needs to be on every V6 3rd gen. Fact.

    PM me for details.

@PapaRee I recently upgraded from KD6 SLT to Reg and am about 200 miles in. Recently this past weekend I took it on the highway and noticed that the truck is a lot more responsive. However I noticed that it seems to hangout out in lower gears, probably why it felt more responsive. I was cruising at around 60-65 with light pedal pressure, and it would just hangout in 5th. I would have to just take my foot off and let it coast for it to get into 6th. The moment I put any type of pressure on the throttle it would be back to 5th or 4th.

I am just wondering if this is normal during the first 500 mile learning period. I feel with SLT it hung out in 6th more often, and I could accelerate in 6th, thought it wasn't very responsive. Also I am assuming for better MPG you'd want to be able to be in a higher gear? But for better response and acceleration you'd want lower. Please educate me!

Otherwise I really like the KD6 Reg.
