Well, when I installed my original lift (5100’s, 887’s, trim packer for lean) I made a rookie mistake and the top of the driver side coil pinched the rubber seat on the lip and wasn’t fully seated. It made a creaking/popping noise. So I reinstalled and everything was perfect again. Have you tried to listen for noises with your sway bar removed? Steering rack loose? I’m sure this has been mentioned.

Yeah, just something else to check off the list of possible suspects. On my end, I had one too many cold ones when I was buttoning everything up lol oops. Long day doing new leafs, coils, uca’s, ecgs bushing, etc haha

Where’d you buy the lift from? Kind of surprised they couldn’t solve it.
Hope you get it figured out and fixed.

This kind of stuff makes me hesitant about doing a lift.
Also, one day a nice lifted & expedition’ed out taco was next to me and when the light turned green his suspension was so noisy it was crazy.

I’m hoping that kind of stuff is the exception not the normal.

I’m taking it to Toyota next week, but honestly it’s such a subtle noise, it’s not audible unless you’re in the front seats and once I get over 10mph you can’t hear it.

    Gotcha.
Was the seller of the lift the installer?

Mine is stock so I’m sure it’s unrelated but I was getting a clunk pulling into my driveway and it turned out to be the front struts and bushings failed (41k).

No, honestly it was just a small top plate (1/2”), lots of guys run these with 0 issues because they’re so small

This is typically how you solve the noise from what I've heard even with 2nd gens

Yeah unfortunately that's kinda normal. Poly bushings are used for most aftermarket stuff, and while they perform better they are definitely noisier than rubber bushings. In rubber bushings, the bushing actually flexes and twists so any movement happens in the rubber. Poly doesn't flex much so the bushing actually rotates inside the sleeve and makes a rubbery squeak sound under load. Sometimes greasing will help but usually only temporarily.

Update: Turns out it was something with the top plates creaking, the original shop I guess lied about removing them and telling me the sound persisted. I removed the lift, went to my Toyota dealer and have asked them to install (with a set of new top plates). The dealer has told me that because they will be installing/inspecting that it will not void my warranty.

I’ll keep you posted on if there any noises after they do the lift, sounds like the first shop just did bad work… be careful who you lift with.

pretty brutal to go through all of that be for 1/2 inch or a $100 spacer set. What a bundle of morons at the 1st shop if this is really the case!

Got the truck back from Toyota with the lift installed, quiet as a mouse. Screw that other shop. Glad it’s all resolved now.

Appreciate all the help and input, hopefully the information shared will help others in the future.
