I found spurrier's gameplan for the clemson game in the trash after USC lost, here is what it said.

    1) Start your worst QB
    2) Leave your worst QB in the entire game, no matter what
    3) Throw to Jared Cook one time
    4) Abandon what works
    5) Make fun of phil fulmer with dabo
    6) Try to lose

The game was terrible, year after year I watch the same crap..start strong, finish horrible.

i dont know how i missed this thread...

hey will...how many times did you tell me and hodge that USC was gonna whip clemsons butt this year?

is it another wait till next year...year?

i find it amusing that we were 3-3...lost our coach midseason(thank goodness)and then won 4 of the last 6 to end the regular season with a win over usc (who now has the same record as us for the season) and we once again were only a game out of going to the ACC championship AND we're bowl eligible for the 9th straight season and our 30th bowl game played :D

btw we're also one of only 12 teams with 9 consecutive winning seasons in the country right now

and i dont want to hear any "oh but its the acc" because yall and UGA got your butts whupped by the acc this year.

Yeah the Gator Bowl just lost a buncha credibility to me. How can a 6 win team play on New Years Day? remember clemson beat 2 D-II teams and by rule only one will count for bowl consideration. Its a sad day when a 6 win clemson team plays on New Years Day

b/c there are a ton of other divisions that had teams that didnt make a winning season...ie big 10

here's a list of the 1-A teams standings and over 40 didnt make a 6-6 season....

    dont be mad

you know you'd be overjoyed if your team got picked for one of the top 3 bowls in your conference after the season we've had

I would be happy but I wouldn't think we deserved it, hell I dont think Carolina deserves the Outback bowl even with 7 wins

    regardless...for the gator bowl...its a good choice...

for whatever reason the way it works...is if they skip a team...the team they select cant have more than 1 game diff in the conference than the skipped team...so being that 4 teams in the acc are 5-3 (with FSU the skipped team being one of them) and 6 at 4-4...clemson is still technically eligible

for the gator bowl clemson is a very attractive choice as FSU fans would more than likely show up for the game and drive home that night...there will be a lot more money spent at bars/restaurants/hotels by clemson fans...

sure...it seems strange that a 7-5 team is playing on new years day...this is also the team that in october was 3-3 and without a coach...i sure as hell aint gonna complain

little bit of extra fun trivia...this will be clemson's 9th trip to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl which is more than any other team in the country...Florida is close behind with 8 trips...South Carolina has been 4 times and is 0-4 there

the gator bowl is also home to the infamous woody hayes incident which effectively ended his career as a head football coach

Clemson's Charlie Bauman intercepted a late game pass from Ohio State to seal the win and as he caught it and ran out of bounds...Hayes ran up and punched Bauman in the chin on National TV
