Have a bunch of those exact storage containers in my garage as well. Got mine at Costco.

Any of those exterior walls where the FD could knock a hole and flood that area. ?. Generally a FD will move back if a house has known ammunition inside

 

Thats why I built the platforms so the cans don't ruin the carpet

If they are uninformed. Small arms ammo in GI ammo cans is very safe compared to what is under the usual kitchen sink or garage chemical cabinet.

SAAMI even put out a test fire video burning more ammo than some gun stores would even have on hand to show its a very low risk compared to the many other dangers in a residential structure fire.

I’ve fought house fires where there was cases of rifle ammo cooking off. It was like a very slow burn of fire crackers.

 

My buddy's house caught fire in a wing where his firearms were stored. It was the sound of ammunition going off that woke them up before everything burned up in an inferno. Most likely saved their lives, because it had already engulfed everything but the room they were in when they heard it. They had to break a window and crawl out.

That was a really expensive fire alarm.

 

Yeah it was a crappy experience, but it all worked out in the end for them. The insurance company went above and beyond in their payout and finding them accommodations while the house was repaired.

 

Reminds me I need more space. I got to get out of the city.
