I too put a deposit down mid-october for an allocated 2022 DCLB OR. Was told late November-early December.

Received a receipt and build sheet w/ VIN number.

11/17/21. Just got the call, truck is in. 2 weeks earlier than expected

Have been in a process since June 2020. Placed deposit in the beginning of September with arrival on the 29th of November. Was told it had shipped at the beginning of November and told it will be arriving early.

Today 11-15-21 I got a text it was pushed back a week and will arrive December 2nd through 7th.

Hello, when you guys order your tacoma, did the dealer try to charge y'all a 2000 dollars for 50-State Emission?
I'm going back and forth with my dealer on that right now, refusing to pay.
The buildup of the tacoma on their website clearly stated a $0 charge on 50-State Emission.

A lot of dealers are charging above mrsp and calling it “market adjustment” or “dealers fees”. First I have heard of it called a charge for “50 state emission fee”. They should call it what it is instead, “greed”.
There are dealers out there who will charge mrsp or less. Where are you located?

I'm in South Carolina. I think they are charging me an addendum in disguise as 50 state emission?

Yeah... that's a crap charge/fluff from the dealer. I'm 99.99% certain that ALL current MY Tacomas are 50-state compliant, LEV-III (low emissions vehicle) certified.

Exactly. I ordered mine in the rocky mountain region. Found a couple of decent dealers there. Too bad you are so far away.

I had a deposit on a '22 OR in LR but the dealer called this week and told me it was sold. Not sure what happened there and frustrating but back to square one. This is in the Austin area.

Is the best strategy to just put down a deposit at a high volume dealer and wait for the allocation lottery? I'd be willing to road trip if I could find a dealer.

Sept 15: Put down $1k on a 2022. I was flexible on color (excluded a few colors), which Tacoma (Sport or higher), and which packages (wanted the minimum tech package, but would take higher). Given how "flexible" I was dealership said I'd probably get one by end of November. I will pay exactly MSRP, plus the crap doc/handling fees (but they were not inflated over normal).

Oct 5: I was informed a Sport meeting my needs is mine if I want it. I said yes, got the temporary VIN.

Nov 2: Truck is built (the temporary VIN became invalid).

Nov 18: Truck is at the dealership, I can pick it up now. There are some add-ons they are doing (heated seats etc.) so I won't pick up the truck for a week or so (Thanksgiving getting in the way).

I think the fact I was "flexible" is how I got what I wanted so quickly.

6 years ago I gave my '96 Tacoma to my son, bought a '15. Tacoma Now I'm selling my '15 to my son (giving him the deal of the century), getting the '22.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got stuck in a long holding pattern.

6.3.21 - Deposit and order on a 21 TRDOR, 6 spd manual in Army Green. Toyota never seemed to pick up the order or provide a PO when I asked.
8.26.21 - Got a call from Dealer stating Toyota would no longer be taking orders and it had to be updated to a 22 TRDOR or the order is cancelled.
10.13.21 - Dealer called and said Toyota picked up the order and it would be built 11.19.

Temp VIN still works as of now. Build sheet listed week 45

So now another 3/4 weeks I assume and all that stuff. :goingcrazy:

That is about the same as my story.
The only thing I had to get done at the dealer was the chip film on forward facing paint. Once the truck was on the lot, they had it ready in less than 24 hours.

    congrats on your new Tacoma!

I didn't realize how fortunate I was to walk into the dealer and get matched with a truck that was already allocated. Five weeks felt like an eternity, so I'm sorry for those of you who are waiting much longer than that!

I put down the deposit on my Tacoma today. TRD Off-Road, Super White, Access Cab, 4x4, AT, only options are floor liners and the basic tech package. $38,788 out the door with no mark up. Dealer is estimating 100 days for delivery. We'll see when it actually comes.

Most likely the long wait is because Toyota only produces manuals every 3 months. The total amount of Tacoma’s with a manual transmission yearly is only about 5%. The rest are automatics. The last batch of manuals was mid October/November. I know because mine was built 10/20/21 and is supposed to be at the dealer 11/22-11/29
