Thanks Dave! More than happy to get the old girl all dialed in for years of trouble free duty! Being that it has a 4.7 engine it should last quite a long time, those suckers are the 22r of the V8 world as far as Toyotas go!!

Well, just had my lunch at 6pm so now its time to go back to work, lol. I gotta pull my engine from the Tacoma sooner than later, just quite a pain to do by myself..but it is what it is!

He sold the bypasses already and only has he COs that are used at pretty much brand new cost. Fawk!!

 

In the meantime I picked up a yz125 with a 144 kit on it over the weekend.

 

Very nice I used to have on of those, the engine kit I had was from Eric Gorr. Was a pretty fun bike, super light and a lot of power on the pipe but only then lol. It had the top end porting and setup so it had no power then all of a sudden you get all the horsies at once. Was good on a motocross track but not so great in technical off-road stuff due to the very small power window.

 

I missed having a 2 stroke play bike for when my 450 beats me up too much or I'm riding with my gf. This one has a pretty wide power band for a small bike. It probably didn't pick up anything up top. I'm loving that it is 100lb lighter than my 450. Little bit of maintenance and it will be ready for track riding. Taking it out to Ridgecrest for Thanksgiving.

That thing on the fwy. That would be scary. It could use some more power. I do like that there are a few e motorcycles that are filling that light dirt bike/ heavy mountain bike void. The e motorcycles still need time to perfect. I keep toying with the idea of making my own prototype to ride the hills that my dual sport can't do well on. Plus be very quiet too.

 

I used to rock a 250 honda elite on the freeway. 95mph on 10 inch wheels. I miss mobbing around town with that, and have seriously considered offering to buy it back from my buddy who doesnt use it anymore, but I know the engine needs a rebuild/replacement. Handled ok on dirt, but grass was a knives edge between life and death, well as close to death as you could be on a scooter...

I'm far from the craziest one on here.. I can think of 1 or 2 people that would do something really stupid, like supercharge it to get those triple digit speeds.

 

Nice that should be a lot of fun! I found out that on the 125 if you are trying to create the largest window for power is to add a flywheel weight and make sure you have the right expansion pipe on it obviously.
I think those bikes weight under 200# so they are pretty darn light, thats why I like my Husky 300, its only 217! And has 52 horsepower to boot...
However when I jump on one of my 450s its very apparent that is has a LOT more power, especially torque. They all have their place, thats for sure!

Where are you going exactly? You said Ridgecrest, but its a pretty broad area, I used to go to Spangler with my Race team on TG and then race the following weekend.

I might also race in the USDR this year in Pro-open class and see how it goes. I saw the list of riders and it turns out that they are the same guys I was able to beat in the D37 desert and scramble series so I should be able to win the series as long as my bike or myself doesn't get broken, lol!!

 

The more time I spend on here, the more I contemplate another bike. I wonder if my marriage will survive it though...

And on that 125 FX bike you linked would likely be an absolute DOG. Pretty heavy for a 125 4 stroke! But those SurRon bikes are getting pretty fawking insane!!! They just came out with a new one thats much more dirtbike-ish, looks like it would be pretty badass.

So far it has the stock yamaha pipe. The forums are all over the place with pipe selection for big bore. The only thing that seemed that most people agreed on is that the stock yama pipe gives it good smooth power. I'm not sure what exhaust to get for it or maybe stock is best. I really should email Athena to see what they say about the bore kit. I'm going to give myself next week to get used to the bike and how I want to dial it in. My buddy has a ktm 150xcw and 250xc so it going to be bike craziness next week. The modern ktm/ huskys 2 strokes are a dream to ride.

I usually camp right off the merge of Trona and Searles and head north about a mile when I'm in Ridgecrest. I haven't been out there much, but there is a ton to explore.

 

The 250 didnt have gears. It's a variable pulley. And honestly it was fast for what it was and actually accelerated pretty good too. Not going to set any records, but I've "dragged" against civics and won. Really it was more about convenience. I could stop what I was working on in the shop, run down to jack in the box, grab food, and bring that food home WITH a large drink cus you can ride this thing 1 handed in only minutes. Same thing when it came to parts stores. Run on down to the local Vatozone, park right in front of the door, grab the whatever it was you forgot, and be back home before you'd be able to park at the shop in a truck. Was just a nice convenient, nimble way to get around town. And it even had a built in stereo.

Other added bonuses include $32/yr for insurance. + the fact that you don't really need it. When I first got it, I drove it from escondido, to ramona via the 78 at 10ish pm. Highway patrol got behind me at the animal park, followed me all the way to ramona, with tags 8 years out of date, didn't pull me over. It's the only vehicle I've ever owned that I didn't get pulled over in... and I may be crazy, but I'd definitely rank it in the top 5 vehicles i've owned in terms of enjoyment. Wonder what a rebuild kit for an 80's watercooled honda costs...

 

If anyone knows of someone who has a BFF order ready for pickup between now and Thanksgiving, I might be able to get it to north county for a lower fee than what you’d have to pay otherwise depending on size and weight.
