Yep, ported is boomier while sealed is supposed to be tighter. Both can be made loud.

Installed that bad boy today and pretty decent sound. Not hitting hard or taking your breath away, but adds to the lack luster bass from the stock system. Also replaced the tweeters with those Subaru Kicker ones. Def adds some clarity. All and all for about 500 all in not too bad. Took my about 5 hours to do the sub and I hated it. Had to pull this panel and this panel. Fish wires through here and try to fish them through here. Not something I really enjoy doing. But, it got done and I am glad I had extra speaker wire to extend the connections, and the plastic trim removal tools, and a soldering iron

Honestly, its very anti climatic looking. its a black square jammed into the cubby behind the seat lol. I put a few rags in there to keep it from sliding. The tweeters well you can't see them....

The latch hooks....I never understood their purpose on the Tacoma. If you get the strap tight like you are supposed to, it seems like it would be near impossible to remove them. Even with 2 carseats in the back of my truck, those latches don't get used. I see no personal reason to keep them, but is there any "legal" requirement to have them?

The latch hooks are to lock the top part of the car seat in. Without them the car seat will flip forward in a front end impact.

Ok, I'll go latch them. Seems like it is going to be a royal PITA to get them out with how the back seat closes. Thankfully, my kids rarely travel in my truck, and when they do it is usually only short distances.

The strap should be loose when installing or removing, you just tighten it up when the seat back is locked.

So with the strap loose, fold down the seat and install the top strap. Then lock the seat back in place and pull the strap to tighten it. To remove, loosen the top strap, then fold the seat down and unhook.

I’m tempted to unbolt mine in the regular cab. I’ll see though. Putting full size car seats in a RC is loco. Especially the center spot. But my Tundra only has a lap belt there so it is a bit of a less-safe situation. Captains chairs with a beef center console could solve that but I think I like the idea of just going old school lap belt in the center when needed.

Mine tighten at the buckle where it latches and not at the top.. There is no way to loosen it without getting your hand back there. So if you pull it as tight as it should be, you're not folding the rear seat forward enough to get your arm in there. The only way I can see it working is if you remove the lower 2 latch straps and raise the bottom of the car seat to get enough slack on the belt that goes behind the rear passenger seat.

On my kids car seats, the top strap had the adjustment part above high enough that I could tighten or loosen them without having to flip the seat. Perhaps see if you can adjust the slip part further up the strap to allow it.

Alternately, if you go to your local police or fire, they are experts and fully trained to install these seats.

Definitely only adjusts at the buckle. Also, I have heard that about the fire department before as well. I did stop by the fire dept before we had our first kid and they chuckled to themselves and said that it looked good to them. That basically if it barely moved side to side that it was good by their standards. It seemed like quite a joke.

Nobody has an opinion here? Unless I find reason to go another route, I guess I'll go with option 3 just to be safe.

Mono amps typically have circuitry to sum stereo inputs.

mono would be my choice for a sub over stereo.

class D might also be something you’d consider more for a sub amp than a stereo amp. Though D amps are much better now than they were years back.

it’s all opinions though and near zero recent experience.

The impedance question and single vs dual voice coils likely has a bigger impact later on when you change something than it does right now when you’re buying stuff together.

Hey Sir, what did you do with the air vent below seat, or there is no one on the 3 gen tacoma, Im planing on installing a second am for my sub and thinking to create a base as your picture to place both mini amps and bass processor, but not sure if the air vent would affect. Mine is a 2 gen.

Ya no air vent to mess with mine is an access cab. The crew cab might have one. Cold air on amps ant so bad. Hot air might not be a good thing .

Can wire directly to the fuse box or I used this add an amp that connected to back of my stock radio and it had a connection to use

I got mine from head unit and made a "remote distributor" just because I did not want to splice remote cable lol. looks cleaner I believe, something like the picture. I got 2 amps and 1 bass processor, so I needed 3 remote wires
