    Hello fellow Tacoma enthusiasts,

I installed a 3.5" loaded strut suspension lift kit from RCX today and noticed when I start my truck up now, the start up sounds for 1. Different and 2. Almost that it struggles to do so.

    1. Has anyone heard or had this problem before?

    2. Any suggestions what it might be? It's both concerning and annoying.

Thank you for taking time to read this and/or for input.

Your truck will sound different if you change anything around the engine. Meaning, by lifting, you have relocated things in relation to the engine so the sound will echo differently, be absorbed differently, reflect differently etc. It's like opening the hood vs closed hood. It sounds different.

Please excuse my ignorance if it reflects in this question... but does that apply even with a differential drop? Also, thank you 100x for your input.

You have your key in the car or doors open while installing it? Could it be that you simply ran the battery down while installing the suspension?

The key stayed inside the truck, but the doors were closed while lift was being installed. The truck has made the noise twice that I have noticed - once leaving the shop and the second time on my way to work. I already took it to get an alignment as well. Maybe they left the doors open, but it is unlikely. Will see if it does it again after this dreaded 8 hour shift. Thanks for the input Cobra.

This is probably 100% the issue. Its like having a subwoofer in a room, if you put it a corner you can increase its output due to reflections. When you lift a truck all those things that are making noise now reflect off the pavement and instead of reflecting back into the underside they reflect out or instead of reflecting out then reflect into the floor pan.

That does make sense. I didn't think the noise could make that substantial of a vibration, but it is turning on a combustible engine and the ground is farther away from the cab. Thank you for the input 5nahalf. Greatly appreciated.

Noise is vibration, In a car with a subwoofer the vibration is more intense if you put your head near the windshield.
