Going back to your remark that you have no issues with the gear hunting vs your pal's truck.
Most likely it is due to the difference in the diff ratio.

Like l mentioned to you the other day you are in the ballpark on the sticker as the Axle Code and Transmission Code should be right next to each other.

If you put a picture of your sticker up we can help you, here is mine and you can the B06B Axle Code right beside the Transmission code.

After owning both it would seem like an easy decision to me. But everyone has different needs and I can respect that.

We had an 06 Regular cab with the 4 cylinder engine and that thing was bulletproof, in 15 years of ownership the only repair needed was a valve cover gasket. BUT it moved at a snail's pace and going up steep hills you definitely had to get a running start.

Now I've got a 2019 DCLB with the V6 and so far it's been reliable and I've had no issues, but it's only been two years so I can't really speak on the long-term reliability.

If I was going to tow anything long distances I'd go with the V6, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

As far as the gear hunting on the 3rd Gen V6 mine did that for the first 2-3000 miles then it stopped, occasionally it still shifts a little sporadic when on the highway but I've found that if I turn ECT PWR on that it smooths it out.

4 cl still seems like a better option. Low maintenance

I don’t know about that low maintenance.
One egg white a day vs a Dozen eggs a day ….that’s some high maintenance there.

Cost more on the upkeep on the 6 than the 4 especially when it comes jewelry, clothes, lavish party, trips etc etc. while the 4 only cost is food so cheaper lol.

If you properly service your V6, expensive additives can be avoided.

My use is the same as the OP's. A load of mulch is the heaviest thing it will ever see. I went entry level SR, as I want this to be the last new vehicle I ever buy. I didn't want exotic climate controls and other electronic gadgets. Basic controls and features is all I need. I even had to add intermittent wipers and cruise to round it out. I do very little highway driving, but the 2.7 has been fine for my use. I just didn't notice that much difference in the 6 for my kind of driving. The 2.7 is still made in Japan which sealed the deal for me.
