Okay... fuckit.... I just want regular Trials back. Freelance "seemed" like a good idea but in reality I've had more people just quit on the first round which automatically turns into a 2v3. I just had a dude quit on the 7th round and lost the card for the Lighthouse because of it. I had to use my mercy on the third round because someone quit. So scrap Freelance.

So I doubt anyone reads this thread anymore but finished my Solo Flawless run the other night. I've got to say that this is "probably" one of the hardest things I've done in the game. I can not tell you the number of times that someone on my team would die first and then leave making it a 2v3. It was infuriating. I see now why Bungie never wanted to make Trials Freelance.

1: It splits the Trials population in half.

2: You run into quitters all the time

3: No one uses coms even though it's available

I don't know if it's because of my ELO in Trials and Comp but every single fucking match felt like I was fighting a full stack on game 7 of a card. I can't tell you the number of times I had to reset the card after the very first match. But if it's ELO based, I find that hard to believe due to some that were put on my team. I can promise that some of those that were matched up on my team had never once stepped foot in Trials much less PvP in general. So I don't know how the game places you with other random players. But it's done. And I will NEVER try to go to the Lighthouse solo again. It was an exercise in frustration.

    Yeah.
I read it. I just tried to play a couple weeks ago and couldn't get motivated. I'll be back when I get bored of other things.

Good to see I'm not the only one who still plays D2 :fistbump:. Never actually done trials before, mainly play gambit or the seasonal stuff

You're not the only one. I tend to be the one that posts in here most often just keeping the thread going. Been playing since D1 alpha. A couple years ago I quit the game in disgust after TBA came out. I wanted nothing more than for Bungie to burn to the ground due to all the ups and downs in the game. Took off a year and my friends talked me into coming back when Shadowkeep released. Been back since. Finally... I can say that Destiny is in a good spot. There have been many ups and downs with the game but they have finally gotten it to a place that everything seems balanced. I spend the vast majority of my time in PvP and Trails each weekend. PvP is in the best spot it's ever been in even though I hate a few of the weapons (looking at you La Monarch). I've made the climb to 5500 in Comp each season since I've come back. I just wish there was actually a reason to reach 5500 now. But each weekend I spend almost all my time in Trials. Now if they would just add some more weapons to the Trials playlist.

So after I gave that praise to Bungie above. There are some issues now with PvP (especially this weekend).

1: And this has been happening to me all day long. I've been fucking around in Control and Comp. About 75% of my matches that I've had today, at least half of my team has dropped out which usually leaves a 3v6 which is basically un-winnable (you can check my games if you don't believe me). This happened so many times in Freelance Trials last weekend that it was the most infuriating thing that I've ever dealt with in the game. Finally was able to solo my way to Flawless but I'll never do that again for this exact reason.

2: They have royally fucked Trials up for this weekend (and now for the foreseeable future). I didn't pay attention to the TWAB before going in. But now they are matching you with other players with similar wins whether they have gone Flawless or not. That in itself isn't that big of a deal since I'm used to playing in the Flawless pool. But the issue arises that I've got 35 wins just fucking around last night while running with a friend as a duo. We won 35 matches but now the problem is, when I go back in, we'll be matched with others that have similar wins whether they have gone Flawless or not. Bungie made great steps for improving Trials when it came back this season. And they have been tweaking it all season. But ABSOLUTELY NO ONE LIKES THIS CHANGE. Even the hardcore players hate it (myself included). Trials is a card based system and should stay that way. The more wins you get on a card you should match players that are on the same number of wins ON THAT SPECIFIC CARD. But no... Now we'll be matched up with people that have 35 plus wins right off the bat and the card based system doesn't even come into play. Fucking stupid!!!!
Bungie made strides in the right direction with making Trials more accessible to those that would like to give it a try and get some loot even if they don't make it to the Lighthouse. But now the more you play? The more everyone gets punished. Even a casual player that wins a few matches will eventually become punished because they will hit a bar that they will not be able to cross over which negates them form getting the loot that was originally the reason Trials was brought back the way it was this season. Completely revamped. And everyone loved the new system. Trials had the highest number of individual players ever at the start of the season. After this weekend? It could possibly be back down to below 100k which is horrible when you went from almost 1 million individual players.

"Finally" got a match where half my team didn't drop. When you have a team that stays this is the result.

Note the guy with the Vex had my number and shut down my first super since I never saw him. But I got a "Lights Out" on the second one. He was brutal with that Vex though and played it right. Props to him.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH17GFX8YSQ

And to show you just one of the games where 2-3 people dropped in the match? This is what happens when you get steamrolled with more supers than you can counter. Surprised I even went positve.

So I just switched to Comp to keep my win streak alive. It's nice when your team doesn't fucking leave you.

When Aztecross, Cammycakes, Kackis, True Vanguard, etc... hate this new system and they are the ones streaming it all the time? You know something is wrong.

Perfect explanation of what is happening in Trails right now.

So basically... With every failed card, your games get even harder just because you played. It just counts wins and nothing else. So you could make it to the 6-7th round each card and if you get beat? Your next card will be even harder even though you failed to go flawless. It is a CARD BASED SYSTEM. Nothing more nothing less. But now you are being punished for making it to the end of a card only to get beat. Reset and you are playing like you are on your 7th round throughout the entire card. Fail to make it again? Then you are playing even harder matches than before on your first round. It makes no sense and is Fucking stupid.

Trials is a bracket tournament mode and this completely ruins the bracket. In fact... the bracket doesn't even exist anymore.

Not sure a second controller would have helped this weekend.

My streak of 65 Flawless weeks in a row (many of those weeks were multiple Flawless cards) came to an end this weekend because I became so disgusted with the revamp to Trials this weekend. I gave up because they completely fucked it up.

Because of the changes made to Trials this weekend well over half of the population that actually plays Trails didn't play (or played and said "fuck this shit"). Lowest number by a large margin according to Destiny Trials Report (meaning well over half) since the Trials revamp. Unless they decide to change their mind, this new system will be in place for the month of Nov. If it is? I won't be playing. If it dropped this much just from one weekend I can't imagine how much it will drop throughout the month. I honestly don't know what Bungie is thinking right now? They went from the best revamp of Trials ever and everyone loved it. Then they changed it to one of the worst systems that has ever existed in Trials.

The entire intent of Trials is a tournament (bracket) system. Always has been since it was introduced in D1. This last weekend they just threw that out. As of right now, it just counts your number of wins and that's it. Then it matches you against other players that have a similar win count no matter where they are on their card. Which means (and this happened often to us) that you could be on your first round on your card and face off against a team that is on their Flawless card. That in itself isn't that big of a deal (even though it should never happen) as I'm used to playing against hard teams.

Here's where the issue actually becomes an issue. It tracks your wins but doesn't track your losses. Which means Grasty and I went in as a duo on Friday night fucking around waiting on our third to get online. We accumulated almost 40 wins throughout our time in Trials in a duo which is not easy playing with a different blueberry on each individual match. But... we also accumulated losses just from the mere fact that we were going in as a duo with no expectations of actually going Flawless against stacked teams. That's fine as we knew that going in. When our third showed up, he also was assumed 40 wins even though he just logged on. Since they took the bracket system away, we were no longer starting from 0 wins going against a team that was also starting from 0 wins. The way it is SUPPOSED to work is you match up with a team on a clean card and whoever wins that match advances to the next round of the bracket all the way up to the 7th match which would be your (and the team you are facing) Flawless match. May the best team win.

But that's not how it played out this weekend. The more wins you accumulate the harder it becomes to even get out of the first round as the game assumes you have won a shit ton of matches without considering your losses. Think of it this way. Think of wiping at Atheon in VoG (admittedly Atheon isn't hard but just for the sake of argument). So you wipe and try Atheon again only this time he has twice as much health as before. You fail again and he gains twice as much health again. Eventually you will get into and unwinnable situation. Or... think of it this way... Think of a tennis tournament where you come into the tournament on the first round only to be thrust into the final round without even playing through the bracket to actually get to the final round. That is what Trials has devolved into this weekend.

So basically the way it is set up right now... your best bet if you want to play Trials is wait until Monday night or Tuesday morning to start playing so you have zero wins on your account. Because if you have wins (again... the system doesn't track your losses) you will automatically be going in at a disadvantage. So that completely defeats the purpose of playing Trials throughout the weekend. So basically the game mode punishes you for having wins but doesn't account for any losses. Which means there are teams that could have 20 wins but also have 100 losses going up against a team that has 20 wins with zero losses. There is nothing right about that. The bracket system is what has always solved that issue. But, at least for this month, there is no bracket.

As a new player to this game due to my SO being heavily invested into it, coming from games like PUBG, Warzone, Apex - I hate this game's PvP. Tired of getting 1 hit killed from 30 meters away by sweaty ass grinders when my weapons do dog shit. At least in the games I come from, everyone has an equal chance.

The PvP in this game is nothing like the games you mention. It is all about the meta being used and there is skill, positioning, strategy, and what weapons work best in whatever situation. It's a fast paced game and until you learn the ropes (so to speak), expect to get farmed until you do. 1v1 has to do with positioning and playing smart. 2v1 will most likely end in a bad outcome for you since getting team shot is almost an insta kill. So it's all about knowing each map, each angle, where the fighting is going to take place etc... Once you learn it? It isn't bad and you'll become competitive. Until then? You will just be cannon fodder. But if you have a meta weapon (and I'm sure you have at least one weapon that can compete) then it's just learning the ropes. It's a fast paced game where fast decisions have to be made in a split second. But this game is nothing like the games you mentioned. Not even close. It has nothing to do with sweaty ass grinders as you put it. It has to do with they are taking advantage of the knowledge they have accumulated by playing. Believe me... when I first started out in PvP in this game I sucked. Now I'm in the top 1000 players. So it can be done.

Well fuck me! Bungie listened and are reverting back to original Trials due to all the negative responses. The metrics showed exactly what I was talking about.

    Good on them.

I'll just drop this here. Finally got ourselves into a 6 stack and wrecked IB for a while tonight.

Symmetry is actually an underrated Scout Rifle now that I've used it some more. I'm surprised more people don't use this instead of the Mida?

If anyone is interested Bunker E15 1320 is up today giving Exotic Arms if you need them or want a better roll than the ones you might have. This is the easiest Legendary Lost Sector you can do and it can be completed in 5 - 6 mins. Anytime Bunker E15 comes up at 1320 do it.

Played all last week during IB and never had one issue with mismatched teams. Meaning there were six on one team and six on the other team.

Hopped into control tonight with a buddy and more than half of our games were 4v6 each time. It is fucking infuriating. I don't know what they need to do about this but there needs to be a ban on playing PvP for at least 30 mins if you leave a game no matter which side you're on.

Here is an example of us going against a team where 2 of their players left. I (almost) felt bad but considering that more than half of our matches were less than six on our side I didn't feel too bad.

So Trials this week is actually a good change. I didn't care for the objective based mode on Wormhaven just because it put the objective on the losing side. This week is much better and I actually like the random spawns for the objective. Good change. Ended up going Flawless with LFG on the Destiny app. Couldn't get our regular team on at the same time so I just joined a game that was posted. I figured it would be a pain with try hard dickheads. But got grouped up with a couple guys that were cool as shit. Burned through the card in less than 45 mins and made two new friends.

How it looks when you join on the app

Played past our Flawless card until we used our mercy and got beat.

So "apparently" The Fourth Mark ship is the hardest ship to get in the game. You only have a 1% chance of it dropping from the Coup de Grace mission (accessed by the Cryptolith Lure). You can only run this mission once per week per character. But... there is a way you can run it as much as you want. Once you load into the mission you remove the mods from the Cryptolith Lure and run it like normal. You get no rewards for finishing the mission but that doesn't matter anyway since it's only a legendary 1320 armor piece so who cares? I can pretty much confirm that this is the hardest ship to get in the game. I have run this mission well over 100 times (52 times one night when I couldn't sleep a few weeks ago). It finally dropped for me today.

    Here's how you do it.
