Also, this was discussed with the guy in the service department beforehand; My truck is pretty well known locally because of the Christmas lights, and decorating it has become an annual tradition. Normally, I wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving to decorate it, but I was anticipating the frame arriving in mid-December at the earliest and taking my truck off the road for several days when I'd normally be driving it around blasting Christmas music; As such, I decided to decorate it early. The service guy said the techs would have no problem disassembling the truck with the lights on it; I installed the lights in such a way that I only had to remove one set (on the front bumper right below the grille and headlights). If you look closely in some of the pictures, you will see that the technician taped the controls for three of the light sets on the cab to the roof to keep them out of harm's way; In 2020, I ran two strands of lights from the back of the truck all the way to the roof just above the windshield. Obviously, since the bed and the cab come off separately, this would not have been conducive to replacing the frame; This year, the bed and cab both got their own light sets.

 

That doesn't take premium, does it?

Just like this one; However, in the UK I get the feeling that a lot of cars didn't have A/C because it wasn't needed. I was browsing eBay UK once years ago and came across a late 1990s or early 2000s Land Rover Discovery with a manual transmission and no A/C. Some people don't know this, but in like 1995-1996 it was possible to get a stick shift Land Rover Discovery in the USA; They are incredibly rare, but they exist. As for no A/C, in a luxury SUV costing about $50K, in America?

The Land Rover I saw on eBay in England had power windows and power locks, but it also had cloth seats and no A/C, as well a 4-cylinder diesel engine; All Land Rover Discoveries in America, including the stick shift ones, had V8s!

 

Its funny because l have absolutely zero memory of the Factory Stereo. I did replace it with an Alpine unit and Subs and Amps so it boomed pretty good.

 

What would the gas mileage be like though? I remember you saying it would be high 20s/low 30s with that engine...

However, would a Lexus V6 be up to the stress of doing truck duties? Could I pull a trailer with it?

I could never imagine buying anything without A/C as a daily driver, and Volkswagen stereos are incredibly easy to steal!

 

It sounds hilarious today but HP jumped from 85 up to 100 from the previous year, it actually was kinda zippy and scooted along pretty good with 100 Horsepower.

 

Also, I've strongly considered putting something bigger in my truck once the 2.7L wears out; Fitting the engine itself under the hood is not what worries me, nor does obtaining the engine at a reasonable price...

My mechanic Pete can get an engine for damn near anything and install it fairly cheap; Pete told me that installing the proper computer system and wiring harness is where it would get really expensive.

Also, wouldn't I have to replace the transmission and ignition system too? Would the A/C compressor and other HVAC components have to be relocated?

 

Why would you take a perfectly good engine out of a perfectly good Lexus?
