Headed out tomorrow, cell camera stop sending pics, I have no clue what's been showing up.

I'm after 1 of the 3 mature bucks running around my place.

The standing corn is really making things difficult here behind the house . It’s the only corn left standing in my area . It’s attached to the 129 acres I hunt . Between the main road and the woods . Wind always blows from the road through the corn and up the hill into the woods .This has happened before when it’s really wet. Corn does not get cut and I don’t see much until it does . Food, cover and water all in one spot . I’m sure the deer are living large in there !

I do have a ladder stand in the edge of the woods near the corn . I think I will try it in the morning. I’ve only sat there in the afternoons/evenings when the thermals cool down . Maybe I can catch something coming out of the corn headed up into the bedding area

I probably wouldn't shoot this guy even if I could hunt where he is. Let him breed.

Near Concan in Uvalde County

 

When my son shot his buck with the muzzle loader a couple weeks ago, I skinned it myself, the kids helped some and had fun watching and ask a lot of questions, quartered it, put it on ice for a couple days, disposed of the remains, etc. Carried it to the processor had the backstraps packaged whole (vacuum sealed) steaks sliced and packaged, and the rest into burger. They charged us $80.

When I shot mine later that week I didn't feel like messing with it so I carried the whole deer, same deal with meat, kids watched them, ask questions, held a leg, etc, went to pick it up and they charged us $95.

They called yesterday and said my daughters is ready, we took the whole deer and same deal with the meat, I ask how much? He said $90.

Now why would I go to the trouble to quarter it up, dispose of the remains, etc. for 10-15$

Hunting has been hard this year. deer arent in their usual places. food is all up high on the mountain.but here we go again,oldest son is tagged out so im on my on.i would give him a tag so i got help getting one out if its in a nasty place

 

I was in freakin bed the other morning. my son calls said he needed some help. so what do Dads do. We Go Help,wouldnt want it any other way. oh and he had most of the weight up out of that hell hole. lol.the damn things never run uphill
