I'll tell you what; I'll gladly spend another 8-900 more on something like a Lincoln Electric 375 Tomahawk plasma cutter.

    Why?

It gets beat to shit every day by 3 different classes and it runs like a champ.

I'm in school for welding as we speak, and it's nice to see what gets beat up on and what breaks and what doesn't.

That Lincoln has my vote for once I buy one.

I just used it maybe 5 minutes ago too.

I’m a big fan Hypertherm on the used market. I’ve had a couple 30s and now a 45 and a 60xp. They don’t get babied and do hold their value in the event you want to step up. The other random to think about are consumables, smaller off brands may not be readily available in the consumable market. Built a plasma table that I use the 60 with and the software was created in conjunction with hypertherm so no issues with interface or exact specs in putting it all together. Plus preloaded tables that are pretty damn spot on. Just extra food for thought. Plasma is definitely a not everyday tool but a damn great tool to have at your disposal when you need it.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
There is only one Plasma Machine that is Hypertherm!!

You get what you pay for !!

Are you stuck having to buy consumables from Yes Weld it only says enough consumables are included to get started.

I like the warranty of this machine you need to show proof of a warranty failure

Better low cost machines on the market .

The lotos are great budget cutters and I wish I'd gotten one and saved a few bucks since it gets used so infrequently, maybe once every few months. I have the harbor freight titanium and it does an awesome job, but it's not very cheap compared to other budget options.

We're talking about a tool I'm going to use a few times a year. Generally I like buying quality tools, but I don't think paying $2k makes sense for my purpose.

    I'll look into the Lotos.

I’ve owned a handful of plasmas over the last few years, a miller, thermal dynamics, hypertherm, Eastwood, and Lincoln. The difference in handheld cut quality was minimal. That is coming from someone who has a medium amount of plasma experience. I’m sure if more of my work revolved around hand held plasma cutting I’d be able to tell the differences between cuts better, but for what I do, they have all worked wells

If you aren’t making a living off it, and are just using it for relatively thin material and removal of unwanted parts (ie, shackles, shock mounts, cam tabs, ect) then you can get away with a cheaper plasma. I use and Eastwood cut 40 for the few small instances I need a handheld plasma. Consumables are cheap and it’s held up well over the last 5 years of use.

On my cmc plasma table I run a hypertherm and wouldn’t waste my time with a Chinese machine. The consumables on the hypertherm last longer and have more cut quality options,, but are also far more expensive than the Eastwood.

Look at everlast’s plasma cutters. I have their cheapest which was around 500 bucks and it has served me well for 3 ish years now. I have no complaints

Been a minute since I ran some wire. I feel like I need to go back to running coupons to get the look down again.

How is the titanium cutter? I have their titanium 140 welder and am a huge fan of it. I heavily considered buying the cutter as well. Kept my eye out for a coupon with the members discounts that I could apply to justify the price. Then I saw the Lotos went on sale on Amazon for about $50 off and after seeing countless youtube reviews I couldn't pass it up but I am left wondering if the titanium would have been worth it with the HF warranties and quicker access to their consumables.

I did use the difference in price to buy a new bigger air compressor to fuel the lotos so I guess that's a plus to going a bit cheaper.

I don't have anything else to compare it to, but it cuts great on 240v. On 120v it's slow as dog shit but I assume that's the case with any cutter. My only gripe is that I can't find drag tips for it. It comes with the little stand off, but a drag tip would be a little more consistent when using a guide to cut anything with a curve. But for my needs, it's been great overall.

those corners would be great corners for a knock down target stand, should you be afflicted with the desire to utilize your 2A rights..........

haha exactly! They could be used for so many things. Some day if my son plays baseball I was thinking of using them to make a soft toss batting cage

    Production work has its place.

Sometimes it's nice to just hit cruise control and not have to think for 3 hours.

    Oh, no!

You went down the rabbit hole, too.

I ended up making me a lift fabrication table.

Your fabrication lift table is awesome. The last thing this thing will probably get is sourcing and swapping in a toyota style screw jack, the pump jack has nothing but issues. I will do what I did to the one I keepin the truck, just weld a 1/2" socket onto it and use an impact to raise and lower it.
