It will suck to see him go, but he's earned it. He's got nothing left to prove. He's won all the awards, won 3 rings, etc. But the sport's taken a toll on his body and he's got a young family to take care of. Congrats to him on a great career. Also, that's $22m off the books for next year. Time to focus on the starting rotation, pay Belt and maybe pick up a Starling Marte. I like what Farhan has done thus far. Hope he keeps it up.

Soler's HR was about the best post season I've seen since . . . though with a 37" bat and that stance, I still don't know HTF Brett ever hit the ball at all.

Saw a comment earlier about Posey:

“Sad to see Buster Posey go, but going out on your own terms with three rings, an MVP, every year of your career with the same team and balling out in your final season without needing a farewell tour is about as gangster as it gets.”

I still have the ticket stub to the first game he played at home as a Giant back on May 27th 2010. Buddy of mine took me as a birthday present and I got to see his rookie debut. Happy for him but sad at the same time...

    Also congrats to the Braves

For making their team a scapegoat since they dared to beat the Yankees team of destiny? From which team I might add, they received the details on how to cheat, from former player Carlos Beltran. Only because a team rat, Mike Fiers, gave the press the details. Why do you think Manfred only went after Hinch and Luhnow? Because he knew if he tried to go further, more teams would have been uncovered. Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, Brewers, Rangers, and others already had complaints against them with the MLB front office for doing something similar.

gtfo, that trash can shit was absolute scumbaggery and it’s why every player–not just fan–called them out in public for it. they should have been punished, and it’s a demerit on the game itself that they weren’t. fuck the dodgers, astros were the biggest winners in 2020 because they didn’t have to face any consequences from mlb, and the pandemic removed the fans from all their away games, so they didn’t have to hear it. altuve used to be one of my favorite players and i’m still disgusted by his participation and response… the only consolation is at least they’re deservedly the most hated team in the game now, over yanks, sox, and dodgers… sorry they’re *your* team, i can empathize that it would totally suck if i found out *my* team were scumbag cheats all along.

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Altuve didn't participate. It's been proven. there's even video of him shaking off the dugout when Cora was signaling him with the can. They've also proven that the signaling didn't help much if any, half the time their signs were incorrect.
You have to be a no/low information fan if you believe the bullshit you're spittin. There's been several players like Logan Morrison who said that what the Astros did was just like what other teams were doing. But because MLB and Manfred want a scapegoat, put it on the Stros. not saying what they did is right, not at all. But if you can't see the bigger picture here, then you're blind.

TL;DR: Yeah, we cheated, but it "didn't help much", so it's cool. The league just needed someone to blame.

Baseball and cheating have gone hand in hand since the beginning of the game. I’m not saying the Astros were right with the trash can (it was even dumber since they had an insane amount of talent and didn’t need the trash can), but it’s baseball. Every team cheats in some fashion.

i agree the 2017 club had the talent, look at them today, a lot of the same guys and they're obviously not still doing it. who can really say they still would've won or it didn't make much difference... that's literally not possible to prove. like mark mcguire, lance armstrong, the russian olympic team, numerous others throughout history—they all chose to cheat anyway, with talent. now they're forced to bear that burden, like all the rest (choose your hero).

to compare it to sign stealing (live) or pitch tipping is a ridiculous thought, and if that's your argument... you've lost. those are not equals, not even remotely. that's comparing card counting–where everyone's got an equal opportunity to do it–to showing up with your own stacked deck.

I say, we keep batters in the f'ing box and pitchers on the f'ing mound and cut the games by about an hour [literally!]. Batters do NOT need to readjust their balls and gloves after every pitch and pitchers do NOT need to walk around the mound and stare off into the stands for 30 secs.

But, I'm getting to be that crusty old sexagenarian I said I'd never become too . . . :(

Agreed. Games are over three hours now which is ridiculous.
