LED cup holder mod...

I have actually added an RGB LED in the shift knob. Blue would illuminate when the truck is on, change to Green when the ECT button is pressed and Red when the truck is off which would tie into the LED that flashes on the dash for the OEM alarm system.

 

Gawt damn.

 

Wow, does the shift lever light have a lead for each color?

 

Is there a way that I could dim the P, D & S lights on that display?

Possible to add a resistor in each wire or worst case I’ll cut some window tint film over each letter.
I find that blue to be too bright and it internally reflects.

 

No, this is an Red/ Green/ Blue combo LED.
Red- truck is off and the red flashes with the security light circuit in the dash
Blue- truck is on
Green- changes from blue to green utilizing a latching relay triggered with the ECT button to match the green ECT illumination in the instrument cluster.

Note, spent many nights figuring out the wiring complexity of this. Also, was not easy feeding 4x wires through a 1/4" hole in the shift knob.

I did recently have someone request a custom built shift knob utilizing the MESO stealth shift knob button to turn on 2x light bars which would change an embedded Green/ Red LED form green to red when the micro switches were triggered. That was a few more nights of figuring out how it would all work.

 

Removable film would be a plus.

 

The display is dim able once the park lights are turned on I believe.

 

I have the interior lights turned down as much as possible and that blue is still annoying!


I’ll just do the film over each letter, the limo tint scrap I have is too dark over the entire display. And as caribe said, easily reversible.

You could see if he could built you a short harness extension with a 1000 ohm resistor inline?
