They're designed specifically for the Toyota market. They have the proper hub bore to fit hubcentrically. They're also flow formed, which is a step above casting and a step below forged. After that, it just comes down to aesthetics. I personally think they do a great job with designs that fit with a mid size truck. They Ray10 is probably my all time favorite "Tacoma" wheel

Also, Vin and Vuth have done what many other manufactures do... create a "limited" market that keeps people clamoring for your product by only producing low numbers and throwing in limited edition colors every once in a while. However, the current supply chain limitations have really bit them in the ass and turned off a large number of people. Pre-Covid, getting a set of wheels wasn't that hard. You'd have to wait for a drop, that consistently happened once a month, and there would be plenty of wheels that you would have a few days to snag your set.

Aside from that... they aren't particularly special.

They aren't special. 100% strategic market creation. Even knowing that I have owned multiple sets of them.

I loved that they were manufactured with Toyotas in mind with correct hub bore and lug/lugnut fitment for thread engagement. I've had a couple sets (BR-6 and Stealth 6) but got bored with the looks once I had them in hand. They do a fantastic job of marketing and creating hype!

Hubcentric was the main appeal to me as well. Alot of aftermarket rims are lug centric and I'd rather keep using the style of wheel that the truck was designed for.

Another big selling point to me was the weight, most of their models are quite a bit lighter than most wheels in the same price bracket. IIRC at one time the F5 was the lightest weight tacoma wheel available for quite awhile until Volk and some of the other really high end manufacturers started offering Tacoma products but those are way out of my price range. SCS offers pretty good bang for your buck.

I got mine during the pandemic about a year ago first try with no issues. It really isn't that hard to pay attention to their release schedule thread and be online to click buy when they drop. It's funny how many people bitch in the inventory thread about missing a drop when they went online hours after the release.

But most importantly I just like the look of my bronze Ray 10s.

Idk, I'm all about function with wheels. My level 8 might be basic bitch TE37 knockoffs, but they were super easy to get and look fine, I haven't had any issues with them. Wheels get beat up so prefer something not $$$ and easy to replace. If getting spares for the scs were easy that'd be another story, they do look great

As someone who works in the wheel biz SCS has done a great job building a wheel for a very targeted market. They build wheels that are hard to beat in both price and quality. Since their primary sales are done direct to customer with limited wholesale dealers they can control the price and market availability of their products. Likely they are getting a container of wheels at a time and that likely consists of 600-1000 wheels per delivery.

That's super sick! Did he drop his wheels off at Trail Ready (I noticed they're in Mt Vernon) to have them do the work or buy the wheels from them with the conversion already done?

If you wanna know more send me a PM. I'll have it off the truck and in the Portland area when I get the flatbed swapped.

ahh, Portland is a bit far for me.

TBH, I already have a HC rear, but it's seen things that can't be unseen, has been repaired multiple times, and the swingout is a little tweaked. I just keep an eye out for the right price/distance.

Not sure why I thought you were in Portland.. I must have been looking at someone else's profile. What part of Montana are you in? If that is where you are..
