Not sure about the grade, the lathe guy made new bushings for them and tried to bore them, that was a no go with a carbide insert.

We always had the can not to cook with but to drain the fat nothing messes drain fields or french drains like fat

The drained fat went out for the birds who loved it .

If Mom used Bacon Fat to cook it was after the bacon was removed the home fries went in .

My dad has always used the bacon fat to cook eggs in after cooking the bacon, a little was alright but too much and you better find a spot to poop before lunch

Looking at the colour of the metal, I'm thinking 'induction heater'.

It's C channel right there and from as far as I can tell, the top and bottom of the C is still intact.

This is my retired life -- nice cup of tea in the garage.
Found the rocker on the side of the road with a free sign -- nice chair, built like a brick outhouse.

Back in my very poor days I "fixed" the frame on my creaky old 7 cylinder Wagoneer with a one speed 1/4" drill with no reverse, a hacksaw and an old bed frame.

And about fifty 1/4" bolts... :bananadead:

Gotta agree - I'm very much a 'Hold my beer and watch this' sort of person, but that frame is putting you, anyone in the truck with you, and anyone on the road around you at risk. Given the level of compromise there, and likely more that can't be seen, even a panic stop in traffic could be problem.
