    Good question...!

I've been laying low because it's too hot to fucking breath outside in AZ right now, much less try to skate.

Sadly the last real session I got in was last month when I visited my buddy in ColoRADo and was able to hit up 4 parks in one day. Goddamn the concrete there is nice.
Finally got to really sample Team Pain's stuff and it was buttery. The Big O (Montreal) replica at Golden was dope!

Fancy Lad videos are so fun to watch.

Definitely doing some of the weirder shit in skateboarding right now but they all totally rip, too. Creative AF!

So at 47 years old I’m reliving my teen years:

    9FFFD6DD-F8A3-4008-8BE0-12E689D29D16.jpg

On my birthday back in January I drove down to Rehoboth Beach Delaware and purchased the OneWheel XR and a onewheel pint.

just two weeks ago I purchased a third older one wheel with a older operating system that I can modify the battery on.

I go out riding on these things every chance I can possibly get.

it is the perfect combination of skateboarding and snowboarding and when you add the off-road capability with the large tire the possibilities for fun are nearly endless.

quite possibly the best toy that I have ever purchased for myself as an adult.

I remember one of my first skate boards had the old steel wheels back in about 1967. All the skates we used back then were the steel wheels that clamped on your shoes with a Skate Key. later I purchased a better set of roller skates and kept on skating into my late 20's. I sold them in a garage sale, not thinking that I'd take my kids skating later in life. I always hated the Frankenstein House skates, they always sucked.
We had an old cotton warehouse in Laurel Miss back in the late 60's early 70's that had been converted into a giant roller rink. Man that place was cool as shit. They had huge industrial box fans built into the Walls to keep the air moving. Great Thread, nice to know some of us older do can still get out and keep on rolling along.

I have ridden those one-wheels both onroad and on gravel roads, it does feel a bit like snowbording and is a total blast. I just think about how fast/small of a glitch the controller would need to let the front end nosedive and pitch you endo style off the front. I know this is not common, but for me i am sure it would be the next way for me to break my face open one more time so I am not buying one on purpose for only that reason.

I am thinking of getting an electric skateboard, but it still seems like an electric bike where a key aspect of the sport is gone.

My fave is still getting my dog to pull me on packed trails with my mountain board, she is trained to pull and hauls. And if I eat it it's my fault, not the controller so I can live with that.

My buddy has a eskateboard-longboard. Has tires with tread. Does about 25. After several broken arms I'm not sure I'm ready for another but, it does look fun.

A big part of skating control is cess slides just like digging a rail in to stop on a snowboard. You get used to those forces and muscle memory. Hitting 'brake' on an e-skateboard feels really unnatural and the batteries make it heavy enough to not be good for cess sliding at all.

I still skate and MTB to work (almost 50 now lol) with no real injuries, but I'm sure I'd start breaking things (bones) as soon as I started e-skting.

Given real biking is just as fast as e-bikes, I don't really understand e-bikes around town. As a kid I somehow got one of those chainsaw motors that hooked on your front bmx bike fork (GT for me) with a spring release clutch but that was too heavy and loud so more of a one-time thing and I tried to adapt it to a deck but it never worked well. That childhood dream of putting motors on things is certainly still alive but if you are into performance you can't really beat the real thing.

I’m well over 1000 miles on these things now. So far only a few falls and since we always gear up before riding I am currently injury free. (And intend to stay that way)

Most if not all of the serious injuries from a OneWheel ride are caused by not staying within the limitations of the board and also not wearing proper safety gear.

I’ve modified my new-to-me XR to go over 35miles on a single charge now. :D

This was my last long distance ride about a week ago on the Schukill River Trail:

Very nice! I myself at age 50 got back on a skateboard but this time an electric long board and now at 53 I've moved to riding EUC's (electric unicycle) and as a skier and season pass holder at my local mountain this allows me to ski "blacktop" in the off season and it's so much like skiing too.

There's a local group I belong to called PortlandEriders on Facebook we have approximately 575 members and group ride Friday nights doing 25 miles through the city. And then 100+ miles on Sundays. Quite literally the best toy I have purchased since I can remember. Its amazing the places you can go and the things you see on one of these.
