In short, it stops raw fuel vapors from entering the atmosphere.
But it is a much more complicated process. If you are ever lucky enough to get an EVAP code, I’ll let you explain how it works exactly.
Until then, I’m I don’t ever have to deal with it.

I kinda figured it had something to do with emissions; Why do I have to explain it though, @TnShooter? I have no idea exactly how it works!

 

Evap codes can be fun to deal with at work… my least favorite system to diagnose when it’s the dreaded “very small leak”

 

I take it you are being sarcastically; My CEL has only come on twice...

Once in September 2015 when the horn malfunctioned and I disconnected it while the truck was running, and just last month when my friend and I changed the spark plugs.

 

evap codes are 90% of the time from loose gas caps. but the small chance you get one because of a small pin hole in something tor w/e it can be a fun ride lol

And I don’t want to learn how it exactly works.
90% of everything I learn, is from do it.
I have no desire to do anything emissions related.

Hopefully it's easier than dealing with an evaporator core; The A/C started leaking refrigerant in 2017 and it was finally traced to a leaky evap core in September 2018, three recharges later, and then it cost almost $1,600 to replace!

I've never done a axle over spring, but tundra 4x4 and taco 4x4 are always yellow gas tank side.

Yeah, but I want working A/C and I was willing to pay through the nose to get it working properly again!

 

Should have done that plastic crossover coolant pipe while engine was out.
