Excellent plan. I wouldn't change a thing. I would wire the driving lights to the high beams with a relay though. That's what I did since I never run my driving lights without my high beams.

Crash and 2 stroked, thank you. Obviously I learned something reading these threads, I'm glad I'm on the right track.

I'm waiting for more info on the SS5 and fortunately have time to wait on that. Agree that the SS5 pro 4000k could hit a sweet spot here. Fogs will go on with a new bumper in a few weeks, driving lights will have to wait for the Spring.

My preference for wireng the driving lights independent of headlights is so I can run them with high or low beam. My fogs can't turn on with high beam but I can see times I'll want the fogs and driving lights.

You can do both. Using this dual-throw switch from anytimebackupcamera.com, I wired the relay trigger so that HIGH activates with the high beam toggle, and LOW turns on anytime the key is in. The high beam fuse tap (along with the trigger wire to relay) have to pass through the firewall. The accessory +12V is on a fuse tap on the interior fuse box.

Combo sport has a higher cd rating than the driving beam SS3's (excepting the Max). Boy Howdy. Very cool to see the driving beam optics up for these pods as well.

I mean... It's ONLY 2.25x of the profile of an SS3

That is a very cool implementation, I'd copy it if I still had a Toyota.

I want to as well, but with SS5 driving lights on the Tundra. Which, unfortunately, does not have small switch black spots. Finding an oval rocker might be tricky. So I think I'm stuck relying on my Switch-Pros and configuring latching switches to fire in low and/or high. Which won't be nearly as sexy as Tory's setup. And I still have to figure out how I'm mounting them.

With my JW Speaker headlights I don’t lose low beam when switching on high, so I’ll just tap my relay off the high beam.

I think the H4's are independent, right? At least in 2nd gen Tacoma which I suspect matches the Tundra setup?

I could maybe just re-wire from the stalk though, somehow, perhaps. And bypass the ECU.

Correct. There are devices run both at the same time, but the bulb will overheat. That is not advisable.

Toyotas are dinosaurs but it does make wiring very straightforward. Are you all CANBUS in the Gladiator?

It is Canbus, but is easily user programable with a Tazer lite programer. So halogen/incandescent to LED is a simple electronic config change and doesn't require any special hardware.

@crashnburn80 been searching thru this thread, have you compared the SSC2 Pros to the SSC3 Sports? I am concidering getting a pair for an upcoming overnight drive from Texas to Colorado as additional high beam capability. The SSC3 Pros are more than I want to spend. I have D2S 35W projector retrofit headlights that are in the 5500K range and SSC3 Pro fog lights in amber.

Not to answer for @crashnburn80, but it's pretty much impossible for him to test / compare all possible combinations of lights, manufacturers, beam patterns, etc. Remember, he's doing all of this for us on his own dime. I'm 99.9% sure he hasn't tested the combination you're inquiring about though. I'd suggest that your current combination is pretty darn good though.

I missed the first pass on the SSC2s, but have them coming. However they are on back order. I haven’t reviewed them yet but in a driving light I’d definitely go with the Pros as you want high intensity output for Driving. You can look at the SS3 Sport vs Pro driving in the original post of this thread, and then realize output will be roughly half with only half the emitters. The Pro is a bit better than that as there are thermal benefits to only having 2 emitters vs 4 allowing a bit more output.

There are output comparison shots between the two at 8:23 in the video here:

I have a set of white SSC2 pros in the driving pattern. I could send you one if you want.

    @memario1214

I have been struggling with what or how I'm going to mount the SS3 max driving I got from memario for a while now. There is a really nice 2 pod mount from KDF to replace the single fog in the bumper but others report it is an absolute PITA to aim the lights once installed. I looked at rigging something up to put the driving lights in the intercooler opening in the bumper but they would probably be too close together. KDF, BD and others make a mount that goes there for 20" light bars and I thought I'd use that for the pod brackets but I'd have to remover the ACC sensor to mount the drivers side bracket and that meant realigning the ACC radar. I really did not want to do what is the easist solution, A pillar mounts, because they don't fit my looks like it came that way desire. Oh well, decided to go that way anyway. There are A pillar mounts for the f150 everywhere from $39 to $150. Even the 39 seemed high for a stamped piece of metal. Was going to go with the DD mounts, didn't really want to deal with having to loosening the hood mounts and then found these from SDHQ. They're the most expensive of the mounts by far but are 2 point mounts (good for stability) and don't use the hood mounts (yea no possible alignment issues) so I ordered them on their black friday sale. Memario if you sell these sorry I didn't know and was too lazy to look.

I was initially a little disappointed when I ordered them. Everybody and their brother is offering free shipping but not SDHQ. But the package came today and I have to say I'm not sorry about the $10.95 shipping after opening the box. I doubt my pictures will do them justice but this is the best packaging job I have ever received. Way to go SDHQ. Being in the shipping industry and seeing how packages are treated I go out of my way to make sure whatever I might sell to someone will get there unscathed but this makes my efforts seem weak.

Nothing special about the box other than I noticed there was no rattling of the goodies inside
    sdhq box.jpg

Here's why, no open space in the box. 3 layers of a formed foam around everything. In a day when companies and people just don
t give a crap this was a very pleasant surprise.
    open box.jpg

Would absolutely positively buy from these guys again.
