Has anyone had snow/dirt make their radar prevent you from using cruise control?

Well, I found a weird (in my opinion) glitch that my phone and talk to text also do not work if that sensor is blocked or inactive.

Can anyone corroborate that their phone did not allow calls but navigation etc still worked.

Yes, have had the snow/dirt problem. It fixes itself once you clean it off. You can still use regular cruise control though. Just hold in the cruise button for a few seconds longer and it turns off radar cruise and allows you to set it at a certain speed (FYI it then won't do any sort of braking or adaptive speed sensing). I never use radar cruise but do use the normal cruise function.

The first part of your question, yes, snow/dirt/etc will cause adaptive cruise to turn off and warn you on the dash. Once you clean the sensor cover the problem will correct itself.

The second part of your question is very appropriate for today.....

Why are you using cruise when it’s snowing?

Yes, if the sensor gets snow or a layer of ice on it, it stops working. Usually very easy to knock off.

I haven't had issues with Carplay when this happens (I never use Bluetooth).

I was on a 5 hour drive. It is melted now however still covered in dirt from my hunting trip.

I didn't know I still had a cruise control mode after radar was disabled! Good to know.

Reminds me of when I went to the sand dunes and did not know that there was another setting for traction control until the week when I got back.

I’ve gotten the same error when driving my Taco in heavy snow. In my case I wasn’t using Cruise (adaptive or otherwise) rather I think it was telling me that it was unavailable if I had wanted to use it.

Same night, same snow storm my LED lights started collecting snow/ice. A quick swipe with my hand took care of the lights and the sensor.

Many accidents caused by using cruise control in the snow and ice. Member on a Jeep page I used to frequent crashed while using cruise control with traction control off while on an icy highway:rofl:

Yep. Any time there is snow it all turns off.
