I have 10k miles on the Magnusson tune without real complaints but with how easy flashing a new tune is I'm interested in seeing what you guys can come up with to improve it.

If in doubt, when the tune is released you could always look into seeing if someone will let you test drive their truck on the tune to decide for yourself if the leap is worth it.

Not everyone feels the need for more. There are people out there who are genuinely happy on the stock NA tune and don't need or want to be tuned. That's fine.

But the market wouldn't exist if improvement wasn't warranted either.

I encourage everyone to do their own research and due diligence. I feel like it's worth it and feel confident that you'd be happy with the results. But I'm a biased party. So I recommend doing what you're already doing: ask questions, read reviews, get second and third opinions, and perhaps test drive if feasible.

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels
Is it too early to ask about price point?

My only complaint (with Maggie's tune) is not having full use of first gear. If anyone pulls a trailer with their MT then they know what I'm talking about. Pulling my 1st gen 4R on a 20 foot trailer it basically fights itself to stall when taking off from a stand still. It's annoying as shit! Of course the accumulator delete mod is still on my list of things to do...

For a specific price, yes, too early. I can say that as of right now, it will cost at minimum $600USD, although it is likely to be higher than that.

For the tune. Every Maggy kit owner should have a flash kit regardless. For instances that come up where flash services are required, I can do it myself in El Paso and haven't decided if it'd just be included or for an additional charge to cover VIN unlocking, but I cannot control how much others may charge for their services. They have to consider the costs of unlocking VINs for starters. And then however much they feel their time is worth, if they factor in things like fuel, whatever else.

Appreciate it. I doubt Maggy is willing to sell the SC at a discount sans tune so we could make up a little of the cost.

Tuner kits are common, it's not like they're unheard of as options, I would think they'd at least consider it...who knows.

I'll be honest, at $600+ you're gonna lose alot of buyers. The kit itself is steep enough. With this tune you're into it for at least $7300 before install.

Not trying to sound like a douche...but supply and demand is on his side right now. Yeah 600 bucks is steep, but currently it's the ONLY other option. The future could change things with more tuners building new tunes...

Nothing is finalized yet, prices are not yet set in stone.

When the tune is completed, a final evaluation of the tune will be made to settle upon a final price.

I do understand that the price overall for the kit and then this tune together climbs as this is an additional expense. An aftermarket modification in comparison really.

However, I do not consider my time and effort to be of little value, nor the achievements that I intend to offer to the community via this tune. This is why on the NA side of the house, you see prices for just the tune files rise for the 2nd and 3rd time lately, because more and more work and progress goes into further improving the available options. This isn't exclusive to Yotawerx.

Keep up the good work, $600 isn’t bad at all. The supercharger shouldn’t be even considered when purchasing a tune, especially with all the development and time it take to try and create a tune that will please the masses. Especially when your starting from scratch, if they were able to build off magnuson tune then they would probably be leaps and bounds ahead. My last sports car was a RS3, you would pay well over $1000 for a tune and lets not forget they also charge you for a transmission tune. Definitely remember guys you pay to play and those of us that want the most out of our $6500 supercharger will have no problem paying $600+, as long as the tune is properly developed and delivers more smiles per gallon…
PS : If you guys need another Auto truck for testing I’m down, I would like to see my truck down to a 9.0 in the 1/8th mile. Currently my best is a 9.4sec and I have the 87mm pulley sitting in my house trying to fight the urge to just slap it on the truck and see if it improves my 1/8th mile.

My opinion or comments are not meant to be negative. More constructive since you are developing something and I'm assuming you are hoping for feedback. In my opinion the kit is overpriced. Is it a nice quality kit? Yes. Would my opinion change if it were priced at $4999 - yes. @4x4rich89 at $6700 for a kit, I would expect a solid tune. Magnuson doesn't seem to be too involved with making it better. or definitely not their main concern.. I could be wrong. I would expect them to at least address some of the major complaints in a timely fashion. Hell my emails/questions are ignored all together. Who knows maybe V8 will be a lot better. Shouldn't need to look for an alternative tune to improve basic functions. That's why I said at $600+ you may lose some buyers, especially when 95% of the people are already on the fence to spend that kind of money on a kit with relatively little return. I have had dozens of people message me asking me if the kit is worth it. And a good portion is literally waiting for the tune to improve before making the leap. Seems everyone is aware of the shortcomings. Sad to see especially when I know the kit is capable of so much more.

Has anyone had a 2020 that bought the supercharger and then it was extremely “glitchy” and for the first 6 months if it wasn’t up to temperature it would all the sudden flash all the bad lights at me and run rough as hell…immediately have to pull over turn it off then back on….we’ll now that’s “fixed” but I’m pretty sure that whole shitty tune ruined my spark plugs…hopefully nothing worse….anyone feel at 1100-1400 rpm’s it bucks…feels like it’s missing almost….I should of joined this thread a long time ago when it was 20 pages long lol

Sounds similar to my random loss of acceleration in the same RPM range 1500-2000 range. Feels like I let off the gas all together, then after a second it comes back resulting in a buck, throwing everyone back lol. Real bad when going up hill. For me its related to the tune / tranny shifting I think.

    Yeah, we figured as much.

More dynos with his truck are likely just to verify to ourselves what sort of progress is being made during road testing, evaluate the resulting torque curve to address anything, but final numbers will either have to be on a different truck, or after he's got a replacement clutch.

    It happens, such is life.

I understand that you are providing constructive criticism and that you are not being derogatory about this, and I did not feel that you were. No worries man.

It is perfectly acceptable to expect a premium driving experience when spending any large amount of money as you and others have done. However, I am not responsible for Magnuson's pricing of their kit, with or without the tune included. These are two different products independent of each other and whether you like it or not, you're paying for their tune when you buy their kit. At least how they currently sell the kit. Idk if they'll ever sell it as a tuner kit.

$5k for a well-constructed forced induction kit is a bit ambitious I think for 6+ cylinder vehicles. Certainly not common. The 4runner 4.0L Magnuson kit is priced similarly at ~$6400 if I'm not mistaken, and I get inquiries from owners about a tune for that application referencing what we've achieved on the NA side (dynographs posted in relevant threads and social media).

My own twin turbo kit for my 3GT cost me $4500 as part of first batch preorder pricing, and the last quoted price before the listing was removed from the website started at $5900, intended for future kits, meaning that Mat ate a significant chunk of cash on the swap from non-US products to American made items in order to ensure that the kit was of high quality. And that's the price if you already have VFTuner software up and running, ready to flash your own truck. The reason I say all of that is to demonstrate that Magnuson's pricing is at minimum to be expected.

No one has to buy the Yotawerx tune. I don't have any of you by the balls on this. No one involved in this discussion is sitting here with a thumb up their butt, waiting on a tune just to run their truck. Anyone has the freedom to purchase VFTuner software and attempt to create their own tune for their Mag-charged truck. You'll be starting from scratch, equal playing field.

Maybe someone creates something and releases it at a lower price point. :notsure:
