    Hello TW,

I am in the midst of a medical work up and the situation is such that I can no longer afford to keep my truck. It is a 2017, sr5 ACLB 4x4 v6. The only mods I have done are I debadged it, blacked out the chrome in the interior, the wheels, and exterior chrome, and added an any time front facing camera. The truck has a tow package as well. I am the second owner and since I got sick shortly after purchasing it, I have put maybe 4k miles on it in a year and a half. Which leaves the odometer at around 93k miles total. Lastly, I am not sure what the previous owner did, but there are light scratches on the hood and tailgate. Oh, and of course I have all the service records since I first purchased it. I am very bummed I have to do this, but am left with no other real choice.

The kbb on it for private sale is around 26k - 27.5k. So I was going to ask right around there, maybe 28k. I do not want to be "that guy" that takes advantage of the market. I post this because I am curious y'alls thoughts. Should I re-attach the badges, will this affect the sale? Is this a reasonable price? Perhaps I should lower the price a tad due to the higher miles?

Leave the badges off, sell it as is. You always want to ask more than you want to get for it, bc people will always try to low ball you

Dude you're in an area where tacomas notoriously are sold at higher prices. Ask for more.

I pray for only the best for you.

Luckily, you are in a good market to sell your truck. You aren't doing anything dishonest to sell for a top price- you are only doing what the market is dictating for your truck right now.

I was shocked what Carmax offered just to buy my old 2019 straight up. Take the 5-10 mins to go on their website and see what they offer you.

i just sold a 10 year old Impreza with 150k miles on it for stupid money. the guy who bought it was frowning through the whole exchange, but he'd also been shopping used cars for over a month and knew this was a better deal than anything else out there. he was the first person to look at the car, too.

it's not up to you what the market does. you can sell your truck for more and still be offering it at a very reasonable price.

Take advantage of market conditions brother and don't feel bad for doing so. If the table was turned and it was a crazy buyer's market, you can bet your ass that buyers would be trying to get everything they could out of you!

Definitely get some quotes from Carmax, carvanna, maybe even dealer. The market is hot and you might get a decent offer and not have to deal with a private sale. The miles are kind of high but demand is pretty crazy. My dealer offered several thousand over my purchase price for my 19.

Health care costs in the U.S. are obscene. Going in for an procedure on Monday. They said I could pay $100 up front
and be done or they would run it through my insurance and I would be back-billed $300. What does that tell ya.

Anywho the Carmax (or like service) is a good option. If for some reason they take a bath on it then some billion dollar
corporation aiming for their next billion in profits will get hit not some person.

Hope everything works out and you end up winning the lottery and then buy a new 2022, or two, or three.

That's crazy... but is in agreement with my observations and those of others...

Somehow I feel very lucky getting my Taco a month or so ago... I guess nobody wanted an Inferno... I saved mine from the auction block...

Put the badges in a zip-loc bag and place it inside the glovebox. Let the buyer know where the badges are just in case he wants to rebadge his new to him purchase.

Good luck OP. Sorry for the current health conditions forcing the sale. But, yes as others have said, don’t feel guilty for putting the appropriate price tag for the current market

What others have said, your price is at what people are asking for trucks with a salvage title. Take a look at the portland Craigslist for comparison. Good luck with your health and sale.
