besides glazing options (Low E coatings , Argon gas fill etc) , in a fixed window you are not likely to get a lot of extra value out of a high end window versus a good mid range window with similar glazing units , high end windows really add value in opening windows due to better hardware / weatherstripping / weather proofing details

its not exactly apples to apples but not sure you recoup the extra cost in extra performance in a fixed window assuming the less expensive window is a half decent NAFS - compliant unit and not a total piece of shit

We used this program when we moved into our home. There are a ton of variables though and unless you have your home information and build specs handy it's probably overkill. I'm sure there are other similar programs out there.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I am going to do some more shopping, and see if I can get a similar window and save some money.

Living in the South, we don't have the weather extremes of the northern climate - which is one reason the builder's can get away with using cheap-ass windows.

Can anyone recommend a home addition (type) software program if such a thing exists?

I've used AutoCAD for the last 20 years so I've never looked into alternatives but maybe Sketchup would work? Unless you're looking for something more than just drawing up a floor plan.

Meant to do this project in the fall but injured myself. Was hoping I could leave it until spring but last night's windstorm took down this fence. I knew it was a matter of time but was hoping it would stay up for the winter.

This is the dog run at the cottage. So I want to get it done ASAP so I can let the dogs loose again and before freeze-up.

Got my instagram prop hi-lift pulling posts for me. Did you guys know these actually do things? And are handier on a property than they are strapped to your bed? Who knew.

Hah - farm jack and strap is exactly how I pulled my posts at my last house. Works grand.

Nice! Hell I’ve used my winch to recover the tractor more times than the truck. Also comes in handy to drag trees/rocks I can’t get the tractor to. Even stretched some horse fence with it. I bet I could put one of those farm jacks to work, too haha

    It's almost too easy.

I've used this thing for pulling fence posts, pulling logs off our trails, and pulling our water pump out of the river. Works way better than jacking the truck. Ha

We used my dad's tow truck to pull up three crab apple trees.

Then we pulled the old garage over with it.

Bought the Greenworks 80V leaf blower to go with my chain saw and weed whacker. Came with 2 batteries and charger. $50 off.

3 out of 3 with these guys. The thing blows GREAT then wham hit the turbo button! As good as our plug in. Yeah sure I could have a back pack blower. Maybe someday.

Had baseboards installed throughout the house. Could have, but didn't want to do it myself. Not impressed with the job they did. Bad cuts, didn't bother wiping the saw dust stuck to the boards off, and a few other things.

Lots of gaps to fix. Doesn't anyone give a shit about their work anymore?

Oooph. You paid someone to do this?

I was pretty upset when I had a contractor come in to replace baseboards for an insurance claim and didn't do a good job. They were still 100 times better than what your guy did.

I have a town home without a garage. There is a sidewalk in front of my house that makes charging difficult. In an effort to not drape a cable across the sidewalk, I'm looking for some ideas on hiding the cable. The best thing I've come up with so far is to cut into the sidewalk and install a drain cover that the cable can run through. Something like the image below. Any thoughts? Any ideas on what else I could do?
