After reading through the instructions Im glad I assembled it on the roof. Probably took a little long with me running around the truck but doing this by myself it would have been awkward to try and lift it up on there once assembled.

After driving around with it on the freeways ive noticed a VERY quiet squeaking coming from the roof but no increase in wind noise. Ill double check the bolts to see about the squeak.

Overall as usual with RCI stuff im quite happy with the purchase, ill be grabbing some of the handle/lights and mounts during their sale to add to the rack.

I was thinking of assembling on the roof also. Any problems with getting the front faring to line up?

So once the rubber blocks degrade, water will start to leak in? Anyone still applied silicone somewhere around that area?

I still put a dab of sealer on the bolt threads to keep water out.

@k20pham Im curious about that too. Ive already ordered mine but i would be interested to hear RCI speak on it? Are they solid rubber blocks or metal blocks coated in rubber? @RCI-Offroad? Teach us your ways about the mounting blocks

I installed my rack this past weekend. I put it together on the truck. I placed an old piece of carpet on the roof to avoid scratches. Mounted the side rails first and left mounting bolts loose. Than I placed all cross bars and the rear faring on the roof. Installed all the cross bars on one side, leaving them loose. Than I did the same for the other side. Than I tighten all the cross bars. Front faring was then installed last. Than all roof mounts were tighten. Doing it this way I was able to do it by myself.

As for the mounting blocks, they are solid rubber. The mounting bolts use a rubber backed washer.

@Taco-Grinder thanks for the info. Looks really nice on your truck! I think my biggest concern is how long the blocks will last. I live in the PNW and get hot and cold weather every year. Maybe im putting too much thought into it? Otherwise its a good looking rack and im excited to get mine soon

Sorry for the delayed response here! The mounting blocks are a solid piece of very dense rubber. These are water cut for the best possible longevity and accuracy. We have had our 4Runner roof rack on the shop truck for about 8-9 months now. That truck has been through the automatic car wash nearly 60 times and it has lived outside the entire duration as well. We have seen zero weathering on those blocks. The truck has been out in the heat(109 peak) and the cold(10 low) so far and we have found no degradation. Those rubber backed washers also prevent any water seepage over time and they have held up perfectly alongside the rubber blocks.
