Just got back from a buddies shop after he gave me a called this morning to come down, and see what he just got....a 2022 sort of cement gray prox4 nissan frontier. We took it out for lunch, and i must say its an impressive truck from what they use to be. Big power off the bottom and a smooth ride on the road. No discernible vibration as in his 2019 trd. As far as the interior, imo i liked the tacoma better. All he told me how he was so glad he traded his tacoma in for this truck and what a pos it was. Well i told him i'm glad your happy now....said he was even happier with the deal they gave him for his trade.

Actually that may be a good thing for him not being able to screw up a new truck.

Tell him nissan has not made a quality truck in over 10 years. I'm sure this new lipsticked pig will be no different.

Nice thing about the Frontier is the ability to bolt on Titan components.

If you want a midsize with a 5.6L V8, 6spd manual, 6" wider track and 11" of travel.. it can all be done fairly easily and inexpensively with the Frontier. There's also a lot more aftermarket support than people realise.

My 2010 Pro-4x has been nearly flawless and drives great. I'll be looking at 3rd gens when they hit the used market.

Before everyone goes posting nissan parts companies, i know from experience. Its a shit show, and very limited.

I pioneered alot of the cooler things for these vehicles, titan swap, gearing etc. It doesnt compare to jeep or Toyota support. 20190926_172131.jpg

Tfl is one of the most biased reviewers out there. Jeep fan boys, "the rubicon is worth what you pay" until the son actually buys a jeep with his own money, then he buys a stripped out sport for 32k bc the rubicon is too expensive.

So your advice is to take your word for it and stick my head in the sand? I've had no issue finding the parts I want. Not as much support doesn't mean there's none at all.

3rd gen specific stuff is being developed. The aftermarket has had their hands on these trucks for what, two months? It's shares a lot with the D40/F-Alpha platform.

So what is your point exactly?

The way I read it, You're claiming there's little to no aftermarket available for Nissan trucks. I can think of one well known vendor that is a "shit show" to deal with. Good thing there's plenty of others these days.

I had a 2015 Nissan Frontier. It was a good truck. The problem was the resale value dropped like a rock. Because of the collapse in the resale value, the spread between the buy and sell price was very wide. It turned out to have the highest cost per year of ownership of any vehicle I have ever had. My big question is going to be what the resale value of the new generation Nissan will be compared to the Tacoma.
