    Uh, what?

Is this another strawman you made up in your head?

Tesla isn’t evaluated at higher then GM, Ford, and Chrysler combined because of environmentalists. Rivian isn’t yet ANOTHER brand new American car manufacture because folks want to save the condor.

you are literally IN a thread where a TON of folks have said they like and want EVs, and then you say you don’t know anyone who wants one? Seriously, how could you have ignored the last thirty pages of comments and say something so silly.

I mean it's okay opinions are spouted here but blatant untruths about validated facts are pretty immature and some just like to troll it seems. Just what they like to do even if they know it's untrue.

Look at the commenters history. Nearly every “against” argument is a fantasy straw man the person implied themselves and not from the comments that were provided.

too much hooch in the 70s methinks

I don't personally know anyone who has ever expressed intrest in an EV. Most people want an old reliable Camry, or a shit box V8.

Well, half a million people bought Tesla’s last year. I see a hell of a lot of them on the road, and the people I know who own them, love them. At least two are serious car guys and drive them a lot. Cost and ease of charging do vary a lot by location, and range for the places I want to go isn’t quite there. Not due to the range itself, but the current lack of charging in Death Valley, Eastern Oregon, etc. But that’s changing quickly and I do see a Rivian or Lightning in my future. I have deposits on both plus the CT but I’m unsure about the latter.

I'm sure there are former, and soon to be former EV drivers out there who went or will go back to conventional fuel vehicles. They won't be talking about it, but it will be happening.

And we are sure you won’t ignore them like you have ignored that folks here, a lot of folks here, have expressed a desire for EVs. There are gas car drivers who won’t ever buy another one. Does that make gas cars bad? There are guys who won’t ever buy a diesel again. Does that make those bad? Folks who won’t ever buy a Toyota again. Or a minivan. Or a coupe. You can look at those and take them at face value, or you can use it to justify whatever narrative your internet cliche tells you it should mean.

But just so you can be absolutely certain, I absolutely WANT an EV.
I did cross shop the Tesla cars when I bough my Tacoma, but although the performance was great the rather sedate daily driving was a concern and I couldn’t lose the loss of character and drama AND not get a truck out of it. When the trucks come out I very well may cry as my MT goes away to buy a Cybertruck.

    I absolutely want an EV

I also absolutely want a corvette. I want to daily drive it. I don’t want it to be electric

I also want a square body, with a turbo 4.8 pushing 600+ hp, with a lope.

A manual hybrid Tacoma would absolutely get my money.

you are not a car guy if you don’t want an electric next to your big block.

so now you can say without a doubt you know someone who wants an EV. A car guy even who wants an EV.

He can predict the future it seems...lol But unfortunately I don't think a manual will come with a hybrid.

Just like there are people that still listen to vinyl that swear that analog is the only way to go.

I read that vinyl outsold CD’s last year. Obviously most music is now digital download now, but vinyl may have a “long tail” before physical media disappears. The difference is that many governments are outlawing ICE so that transition may be 100% … or reality may set in and there will be ICE loopholes. By the way, I have been driving for almost 50 years, have owned one American V8 four speed performance car, a few Alfa Romeo’s and a turbo Subaru as well as several high performance sport bikes, have driven a Ferrari, and I found the Model 3 dual-motor acceleration to be the most visceral automotive experience I’ve ever had. Well, maybe not quite as good as cleaning Cadillac Hill on the Rubicon Trail in my stock 80 Series 25 years ago.

The trolling in this thread for the last 10 pages or so has been pretty poor IMO.

When ill-informed ignorance is deemed as equal to educated intelligence.
When your "facts" are based on "feelings".

EDIT: I just clicked on a completely unrelated thread in a different subforum, homeslice was railing about EVs unprompted there, too. Not much room left in his head after all those EVs parked in there for free...

Now to keep this thread on topic, I got a text from Tesla asking if I was going to trade in a vehicle . Crap. I knew the day would come where I'd have to make a decision, keep the Tacoma, or keep my wife's car. To be honest the Tacoma is in trouble. It's worth a lot more than her car and I don't really "need" a truck but a couple of times per year.
