i read that tarp is not required and can shorten the life. Have you had any ill effect from it?

Funny u say that , I leave it up about 6 inches from the bottom so air can still circulate through it . That's what the hvac ghy at work said or don't cover at all. It's 15 years old and still turning.

I covered mine today too. Same thing. Leave some room for the air to circulate.

thanks, that makes sense. My unit is around 14 years old and I haven’t covered it since I’ve owned the place, but also not many trees or snow here to clog it up. Think I’ll just leave it open, but leaving the gap at the bottom makes sense! I read that i guess if not it could trap condensation and make it worse.

We had our old air conditioner replaced 2 years ago(small freon leak we didn’t know about), worked great, we covered it every year down to the ground and it was 22-23 years old. We got the new one installed and the guy told us not to cover it at all, so we haven’t. No issues yet.

When I did installs in my younger days I was always told the only thing to watch out for was leaves building up under the fan it can`t really hurt anything but hold moisture and cause the bottom to rust out.

It is exposed to all the weather when in use it just dries faster from the fan running..

The tarp won’t shorten the life. But you don’t really need a tarp unless the condenser is subject to things like leaves and such falling in it

yeah so I think I’m good without a tarp. Where my condenser is there’s nothing to fall and clog up the fins or rot at the bottom.

Good morning, fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!! Did you miss me? :D:rofl:

Lynn and I were in Antigua for the week. Got back home about 1:30 AM today. I need to collect the pictures in one file...and drink some more coffee...but here's the pic I took yesterday morning. Sunrise in Antigua while the full moon sets in the east from in front of our room. What a sock it is from waking up to 78 deg there yesterday and 35 here now.

Good morning friends, busy yesterday it was. Christian a buddy and I helped move furniture in the morning . Not my favorite thing to do nor the kids but she needed help and that’s what we do :) back feeling it today :-/

Took Brandon to work at 2, then the boys and I who moved moved furniture drove to someone’s house to load up ash wood that’s already been cut, just needs split and it’s actually ready to burn. Filled up joes 6x12 dump trailer, Christians 5x8 trailer and my truck bed. Unloaded all that at joes.

Christian and his buddy left joes because they had a sweet 16 party to go too. So I gave him some formal attire.

I stayed at joes, cut up a decent sized oak and ash tree. A buddy of joes was hunting and got one. He had just fought off covid and was unable to drag it out because of being weak yet .so joe and drug it out, he gutted it. I can tell you one thing, I don’t think I could cut a deer.

hope you fellas enjoy your day.

If you know what your doing it is not bad.

The trick with any large animal is not to pierce the stomach sack unless you want the goodies inside pull it out intact no mess no fuss leaving just the heart and lungs.

Heart is not bad unless one over indulges and ends up with a freezer full because I hate to waste Food everyone and there families gave them to me.after I had my Fill my dog did not seem to get tired of them.
