Long story, but does anyone know if the tailgate handle gasket for a 2015 Taco can be purchased separately? If not, can anyone confirm a new handle would come with the gasket?

The long story: I installed a popnlock handle that was defective and had to return it. In my haste I accidentally returned it without removing the gasket. Got a replacement, went to install in and realized the gasket is missing. Dumb, I know and likely an expensive mistake... Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Found my own answer. It isn't procurable separately, however it is unclear if it comes with the new handle but my dealer knows it does for the Tundra. They want over $100 for the handle, but it seems that the gasket also comes with some replacement handles, but not the popnlock. To replace it, I'm going to try to order a regular replacement handle from eBay for $28. PIA, but lesson learned. Slow down and pay attention to what I'm doing. Cheers.

Use silicone as it will last longer and seal just as well. Just pay attention so you don't use too much.

Better late than never, hope this helps someone.
I purchased a 1/8 silicone sheet off Amazon for under $15 and cut out a new gasket using an exacto blade since mine didn't quite fit right after my PopNLock swap. I am very happy with how it came out and you will be too!

That's such a good idea lol. My pop n lock has been garbage since day 1, the lock never worked right, and the tailgate doesn't open smoothly with a single click like it used to. (I understand my personal experience is worse than most reported on here-- not saying all pop n locks are bad). I am going to put back on the non-locking chrome handle that my truck came with lol, and flip that coat hanger wire thing back over in there. I might do this silicone sheet trick just to have a newer nicer gasket that will last going forward lol. Last time I did the swap, that gasket was looking mighty crispy. :tumbleweed:

Edit: Since making the post, I was inspired to inspect my pop n lock and I tried to figure out what has been wrong with it. I was able to tighten the nut that holds the lock mechanism in place considerably, which helped a little bit-- but still couldn't work the lock using the key. All of the lock pieces and plastic pieces that move and operate the sliding metal piece were so loose and dry with dust/dirt that it wouldn't budge when using the key. I cleaned it all best I could and applied some silicone grease where I could see plastic moving on plastic, then I used some WD 40 where metal touched metal, and it did at least allow me to use the lock now-- albeit still a bit difficult to go from unlocked to locked. Regarding the opening of the tailgate, I bent the metal pole-bar-thing that you originally flip around for the pop n lock a little bit, and lubricated the hitching mechanisms and it opens and closes very smoothly now. I'm still definitely not in love with the pop n lock, and I feel it was over priced for the low quality- but at least I was able to get it into working condition with some TLC. Hope this helps a future user.
