I bought it new at HD; I'll hit up Milwaukee and see what's up.

But another guy bought a Milwaukee corded as well and his is almost as loud too (in our class).

Then I hear from others that they prefer a Dewalt grinder over a Milwaukee.

Nah, I'd have to look. Mine are older corded ones.

It's funny that it seems to be another very personal choice but if it's not working for you switching up makes sense. No need to be miserable all day using a tool that doesn't work for you

My buddy exclusively uses Makita grinders because he likes them better than DeWalt/Milwaukee :notsure:

Powerade > Gatorade and all that

For that very reason I want to go Metabo at least for 1 angle grinder.

The crazy thing is those dewalts look like trash compared to Makita grinders

I used my Milwaukee yesterday and there wasn't any vibration... USA made cutoff wheel though

@JKO1998 remember when I pulled that ignition cylinder off the 4Runner for you? Think this is related at all?

I know this isn't in the same class as the grinders y'all are talking about @Wulf and @Kwikvette, but the Metabo-HPT (aka Hitachi) 4.5"/6 amp grinder can be had for $30-$40 right now. I picked one up a few months ago to use for rust removal and paint stripping. I can't compare it to any other grinders, but I have no complaints with it so far.

    $30 @ ACME Tools: https://www.acmetools.com/4-1-2-in-62-amp-disc-grinder-g12sr4m/717709021693.html
    $40 @ Lowes: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Metabo-HPT...liding-Switch-Corded-Angle-Grinder/1001107544

I may have to grab one to check it out.

I didn't mean to come off as a tool snob; just comes from older hobbies of mine that sometimes it's just best to spend money on higher end stuff from the get go.

But it'll be for grinding on metal only so I can't see why I wouldn't try out that grinder you linked.

I just don't want to go having carpal tunnel so soon...

Not that I can think of. Only thing that would be hurt by that is the steering wheel lock thing.

But you could always pull the switch off the back of key cylinder and see if that changes anything

I have the XR 20v grinder at work and I think it beats the Milwaukee fuel hands down. Seems to not bog down as easy and I swear the batteries last longer.

Yeah as I said, a ton of people with experience with both, say the Dewalt is better than the Milwaukee.

Good work deserves good tools for sure... you'll definitely be working enough to justify at least one, maybe a few, nice grinders. I mentioned this more as an extra "I don't want to change discs today" tool, or an alternative to anyone else out there thinking of a Harbor Freight grinder.

If you get one, I'd like to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the nicer grinders you've used.

If I head out today to Lowe's, I'll pick one up and take it to the shop with me tomorrow and see.

Got some errands to run as we're just making sure we have all the food we need for this week.

    Doing Thanksgiving camping.

I've had a few and they work well for $15. I've used them for all kinds of cutting, rust removal, grinding, etc. Never had one burn out. That said the bearings/drive are always gritty and they scream. I've head you can take it apart and pack everything with grease and it gets quiet. For a $15 tool I wouldn't bother, especially when only used on occasion lol

As I bought nicer grinders I gave them away to buddies who needed one and I assume they're out there still going. I assume they refuse to die if you spend extra for the warranty :notsure:

I never have been a fan of Makita, I had a few drills the burned out pretty quick. BUT I was given a Makita grinder a few years back and it has been a great tool. Sometimes I think it is hit and miss on all the major brands.
