I don’t know what it was, but that was my favorite piece of the puzzle to weld. Probably because I could sit it on the table and get comfortable and have plenty of light.

I’ve heard mixed thoughts about the beads. Figured I’d just try it without them and if I had any vibrations I’d try that over taking it to a balancer. So far so good, might try them in the future on my wife’s 4 runner because her tires have been to the tire shop too many times for balancing.

That's what I did. It was ok with no weights up to 60 mph but took them to a shop that deals with all sorts of custom wheels and they balanced them with no issues. I just put some gorilla tape over the stick-on weights so they don't come off.

We mount and balance thousands of tires a year at the shop. Anything over 33” gets beads. The tires not only last longer, but we NEVER have people coming back complaining about a shake. That’s just my experience on it. I’ve ran beads in every set of MT’s I’ve owned.

Cool part with beads is they adjust as your tires wear. And, unless you fill the tire entirely, you can’t add too much. When I did my 37’s I dumped a full pound in each and they have been like glass. My STT’s that I run for winter are heavily siped and have 35k on them. I’ll easily get another 15 out of them. I attribute the long life to the beads.

I haven't had an issue with mine coming off. As long as the shop does a good job cleaning and prepping the surface and uses quality weights they shouldn't come off.

I've never had an issue either but it was a trick I stumbled across while researching balancing beadlocks. I figure it wouldn't hurt anything so may as well.

Oh it's definitely another level to prevent them from potentially getting knocked off. It's also a layer of protection if the shop didn't do any of which I said especially once they get dirty and nasty

Played around a bit today. Finally found something to drag a slider on. Still haven’t taken it to a park after LT. Dying to stretch it out.

I’m going to take a leap and say there’s nothing bolt on for the Tacoma that will allow you to fully stuff and lock a 33 and maintain stock suspension travel without trimming something. I’ve never seen anything at least. JDs pivot kit is probably the least messy way to fit larger tires. I suppose you could do their LT kit and maybe not trim since it moves the wheel forward 7/8” by means of the lower arm. Something tells me you might not be interested in that route though.

If you're getting full bump travel (metal to metal LCA-Bumpstop) from an otherwise stock geometry front end your 33s will hit the fender flares. This only happens when you go to an aftermarket LCA and get rid of the OEM LCA bushings; which greatly limit travel, until they wear out and break...

People who think lift has anything to do with tire clearance just don’t wheel. If you can’t run a certain size tire at stock ride height you’re not going to wheel without rubbing. So while a 2.5” lift will let you run 33’s down the highway, you still won’t use all of the travel off road without rubbing unless you clearance.

Why are you following this page then? I feel like everyone on here wants to stay IFS and doesn’t want to go sas. If you do stay IFS this kit is definitely the best on the market in my opinion.

I can’t believe we still have to listen to the ”how much lift do I need to fit tires” argument still. Lift doesn’t matter. 255/85R16 (33’s) fits with little to no rub if you stick with stock wheels. If you increase the offset at all, you’ll rub. If you go any wider, you’ll rub. CMC isn’t voiding any warranties and alignment will be critical when trying to fit larger tires.

Solo claims 19” with the LT kit they sell but if you have these JD aftermarket inner fenders with 15” of travel with the plus 4 kit, and almost bumps out on them I have no idea how the hell you’d get 19 with stock inners, without just tearing it all out.

It's true in the solid axle world of spacer lifts that move both bump and droop relative to the frame; see almost every Jeep lift kit on the market. It's totally irrelevant to IFS trucks though.
