It should have a control panel that plugs into the pigtail coming out of the unit. They can put that control in the tent and adjust everything from there.

I guess I don't know how the diesel heaters work. It doesn't need electricity from the truck? Or it just has a small battery for a pilot light or something to get it started?

I like the idea. Holy crap the price difference between the "good ones" and the Chinese copies.

They do, very easy to mount a fuel tank though. They come with a pump. They’re used in a lot of diesel sprinter vans and trucks, they can pull right from the fuel tanks on those. Very efficient also. .8L/hr on low, .28L/hr on high. If you ran on high for 10 hours, that’s 3/4 gallon. A 2 gallon rotopax will be more than enough.

All good man, it’s expected. Hopefully some enjoy it. I’m doing it for the first time and I’ve been back and forth to the drawing board a lot. Maybe someone will be able to snag an idea or two from me and make their build easier.

It has a controller that will go right in the tent. As far as run time, not sure yet. Depending on the temps it might be running on high the entire time.

I have an iKamper mini with the annex

Runs off the vehicle battery or any 12v pack. Initial startup is the most draw because of the glow plug, after that it just runs the small internal fan and controller. It has an adjustable low voltage cut off so it’ll shut off before it draws the battery down too far. It’ll be a few nights of testing to dial it in I imagine. I’ll get the amperage draw numbers up soon, they’re pretty low

Yeah, I researched a ton on these and this one fit what I wanted. You don’t have to take the unit apart to get to the glow plug or fuel atomizer screen either. People seem to have so many issues with the Chinese versions. They’re also not made to be rebuilt. I like buying things once. And this is one of those things I don’t want failing…

For propane, im referring to the propane fireplace. Exhaust and intake are all outside, so no interior moisture build up.

I’m intrigued as I need to upgrade the heater in my vintage travel trailer. This might be a viable solution.

Do you have the current fuel/rpm tables to keep that thing from sooting up? This is the most current tested table afaik.

That sounds pretty good. Will it pump/light off when the fuel is 10F?

    10F? I’m not following (I’m sure it’s simple )

Here’s a chart right off their site. I believe it’s a little less than 2A draw when it’s running. I’ll let you guys with the brains figure out the conversions on this page…

I also plan on not shutting the truck off until the heater is running. Park, fire up the heater, get set up, by that time the glow plug should be off and I’ll be pulling minimal power.

Little work on the rotopax tonight. Need to mount everything up to see where I want to run the rest of the fuel line. Filter will be next in line, trimmed the adapter to length. 26 and dropping outside so that’ll wait until tomorrow… Plenty to keep me busy on the box in a warm shop.
