That's my thought. What better way to move players that are tied to a franchise then by having the long time owner step aside for new owners, with no ties or loyalty to those players? To be honest, Malkin's ability to stay on ice and contribute has been greatly reduced. I can't see a large contract extension for this.

I agree. I love Geno, but I just don't see the core 3 remaining Penguins until they retire. I know Mario mentioned that he always felt like Jagr should've been a Penguin forever and I think he feels like he would want Sid, Geno and Letang to remain here while he was the owner. So now that he would not be in the same position I bet someone gets dealt. Also, remember that the rumor is that Rutherford wanted to move 1 or both Letang and Geno and was told "no" by higher-ups. Not sure how true that is, but given how sudden his departure was, it doesn't seem too far out of line.

Nice road trip for the Pens. Jarry looks great, the team in general looks pretty solid. Was cool that we played a few of the teams that I like to watch, on this road trip (Leafs and Jets.)

While Crosby isn't getting the points I think his presence has stabilized the lines, allowing other guys to slot down where they can be more effective. While they aren't scoring, they are preventing other teams from doing so.

Exactly. For a while there we had guys playing out of their element. Just having everyone (but Geno) back has helped everyone slide into their proper spots. And Sid still doesn't look bad. The team is playing tight, and that's ok by me. Took us a little while to get going last night but after we got into the back half of the 1st, it seemed like they got to their game.

Jarry is playing so much better the last few games, as well as the team. Having 87 back helps, and he attracts the top d men, opening it up a bit for the other lines to contribute. Worst part, I haven’t been able to watch the last two as they were on NHL network here, and I don’t get it. Maybe i should stop watching if that’s what it takes.

Saw this post on the twitters , made me laugh because it's so true lol

"Vancouver Canucks are like praying to the Hockey Gods to give them a sign if they should make any changes, and lightning hits their house five times in a row and everything is on fire and the Canucks are still whispering “just give us a sign…”

Seems like more info about the Pens sale is showing that Mario and Burkle are still going to be involved. So maybe it won't be as big of a change as was reported early on. Either way, I don't really look at it as a bad thing. If anything it's probably for the better.

Time will tell. It's hard to believe that the majority stake holder is going to leave things status quo, or near to it. Otherwise, why buy a majority stake in the team if you don't want the primary say?

Pens sure can make other teams' goalies look like HOF lol. If they could've buried some of those chances on Edmonton, I think that really gets Edmonton reeling a bit. But instead Edm just kept coming and then started filling the net. Kind of an annoying game.

The game was too late for me to watch. I checked out the highlights this morning. This team is not Stanley Cup ready. Maybe it's time to make that big trade, somebody like Letang.

I agree. They aren't bad but they also don't look like a serious contender. It's weird because I think they are in a bit of an identity crisis. Obviously a few years back we were a puck-possesion machine, with guys that could score. But once the possesion / scoring dropped a bit, it sort of exposed some sloppiness (and bad defense.) I think last year we took a step in trying to clean that up a bit and again this year. So it's like we are somewhat in that transition of trying to grind and play tight defense. But some nights, the scoring is just not there. Sulli pretty much benched the whole 2nd line last night (Kap, Carter and Zucker) and those are 3 guys you'd like to see cash in a bit more. So I just am not sure what move to make. Do you try to get a scoring winger (at risk of not sometimes being defensively responsible) or do you try to get someone else who doesn't take risks but plays hard, throws the body and plays responsibly. It will be interesting.

@OZ-T nice call on MarcusTRDOR being that Tampa fan whose been kicked about a dozen times now. I just noticed that profile was banned, again. Kind of figured it was him when he strolled in here and started tagging all my old posts with douche replies. Little does he know I've barely been watching hockey this year and the only time I even remember him is when he creates rage profiles to try to troll me. I hope he gets help. Trying to troll someone for that long, and that hard, is definitely a sign of mental illness.

I don't know but, in the last year alone, he tagged me in at least a half dozen new trolling threads because he can't get into this one anymore. How ever many he's burned in here it would be that many plus those profiles. My guess is over a dozen now. The mods told me they haven't seen someone that dedicated to trolling one member.
