Is it just me or do the M12 tools chew through batteries much faster than the M18 stuff? I have a few tools of each and I find that almost every time I grab a M12 tool the batteries are almost dead. My Ryobi 18V One+ tools with 1.5Ah last so much longer than my M12 tools with 1.5Ah...

I guess I should do a straight up comparison when I have another larger project but this seems to be my impression after 1 year of having the M12 tools...

I feel like this is a much better deal getting the brushless impact and a 4Ah as well for only $80 more... https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...-2-Batteries-and-Bag-2-Tool-2598-22/303101201

First and foremost, it doesn't leak bar oil like EVERY other saw I've ever owned. The reservoir is, I'd guess around a cup, and it uses it very sparingly. I can do several hours worth of trimming and tidying (not constant use of course) and not need to add oil.

Nor I. I find the M12 batteries hold a charge, and even on high-demand tools like the die grinder, I get very good "mileage" out of them, 'though in fairness I don't really have any way to compare; the only comparable M12 & M18 tools I have are the hammer drill & impact driver sets, and as I use them in very different ways, I have no idea how they compare.

I can't directly compare M12 to M18; I started with a "more power" approach when I needed a new drill last year so I just went right to the M18 because I used the opportunity to also pick up a rotary sander, a multi-tool, and a chain saw... and I didn't think 12V would be enough for the sander or the chain saw.

Have put some mileage(?) on all of my M18 tools; to-date I have no complaints.

The 1.5 Ah batteries are the bottom of the barrel so I wouldn't expect much from them. Also, the tools that come with the 1.5 batteries tend to be lesser grade tools (non-fuel with less efficient brushed motors) so that is probably part of it.

Look at these two kits. You're clearly going to get a lot more work done with the first kit than with the second even though they are both M12 drill/driver combo kits.

I have no issues with run time or power when using my M12 Fuel tools with what I consider to be the appropriate sized battery for the tool.

Really wish Milwaukee would make a rolling packout similar in size and handle orientation to the Husky 26" Rolling Tool Box. I know they make that large one with the horizontal handle, but it's freakin' huge. I have a Tonneau Cover and the horizontal handle allows me to push/pull them from up against my cab. The Husky connect system (all plastic) kinda sucks and gets stuck easy. I have 2 of the 22" connect tool boxes too.

Considering the large packout box as well as a couple of the smaller ones. Both have nice carry handles. Would be nice to have a rolling box (above) to connect them to for on the job site. I can't throw everything in one large box.

This should fit, I think you have 18inches between bed and tonneau. I guess the question would be, do you want to access the tools without pulling in out of the truck? Like would the kids facing the tailgate be an issue.

    4 run, 2 don't
Milwaukee sells those Packout platforms for when you only want to carry some boxes in the vehicle.

Their setup with wheels is in the works once the house is done, which will eliminate having those big metal rolling tool boxes

Do yourself a favor and pick up a 2-pack of Milwaukee 25 ft tape measures on sale for $14 the next time that pricing hits. The quality and details are unparalleled and may grow your interest to what sets the red power tools apart from the rest.
