Yea the price and size are definitely just too much for practical use.
Not to mention it only goes to 100 ft-lbs. Not the greatest torque range.

 

Not a ton of stuff that needs to be over 100 though either honestly. Anything that is you'll want a 1/2" anyways.

 

Was living in Chicago all month, back home now and getting close to having the 4runner ready for sale.

 

It was designed for electricians and working in their boxes.

But really even with it being chunky there's plenty of places you could use it.

Sounds like it basically just goes till then fastener is snugged then you torque. Which is pretty much what I do with impacts. Set them to mode 1 so soon as it hits resistance it stops and then torque. Saves the step of having to swap to the torque wrench.

Neat tool that I didn't know was out there though. Worth it for a home guy....ehhh probably not. But for the professional using it a few times a week I bet it's nice

Chicago was fun to drive through......2 hours of traffic plus tolls. Was still "quicker" then going around though. That was a Saturday midday too which I thought would have been ok

 

I can't remember the details on this truck. It's a v6 with a 5-speed isn't it? What's the mileage?

 

V6 5wpd with 263k miles. Clean car fax and all original glass and bodywork to back it up. Kinda sucks to sell it since I've fixed it up and now I want it for myself haha

 

Any more history? Where has it lived? Open diffs? Is that an 8.4" rear?

 

All 3rd gen runners had 8" rears

 

It was sold new in North Carolina where it lived for 10years with the first owner. Then it moved to Pennsylvania for 3 years before going back to NC with the second owner. From there it moved to Oklahoma and onto Idaho with the third owner. I am the 4th. It's done only about 60k miles in the last 10 years and in that time the service records show a lot of work has been done. New starter, new alt, new clutch, new ball joints and new timing belt and water pump.

There's a decent history of service in the Carfax report but it's certainly not as granular. Truck is an SR5 with open diffs. I'm not knowledgeable on what diff housing it has. It has some flaws as any old truck will but the bones are solid. I just can't justify it over my VW as a commuter cuz I sure have tried to justify it ha!

 

I can see it's appeal. Any rust issues from it's time in PA?

 

There is minor corrosion on the rear axle housing and the spindles oddly. Nothing that looked concerning to me, surface rust at most. I did replace the bumpers as they had rust damage but otherwise, it's clean and serviceable. There is a oily film under the truck that is either from the RMS or rear cam seal leak, or someone had been using a fluid film of sorts. I havent been excited about degreasing that thing in these temps.

 

What are you looking to get for it?

 

My assessment is that it has a market value of $5-8k. I plan to post it on CarsandBids as I believe that is a good audience for it. No reserve so it'll be an exciting week! That said if someone showed up with $8k today, I wouldn't turn them away. I just have more cleaning to do and change a couple fluids before I'm ready to send it to a new home.
