What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

To each their own. FF and the like usually come with wand kits, helps to get inside the frame (where most rust starts). Undercoating, especially the rubberized stuff, shouldn't be coated multiple times over. I would recommend doing the prep and undercoating or paint once, then FF moving forward.

Just my preference. FF can be a mess and isn't for everyone though. Really just depends on how bad rust is in your area.

Latest. Finally completed my 2000 Tacoma renewal. 265/70/17. 2021 4Runner wheels.
total lift from OEM 4.5”. No modification needed. 2.7 4cyl manual 4x4. Since primarily road driven to many downsides to larger tire for my use. Thanks to all for the input.

 

It looks like the coating in the pic is similar to FF.

 

You're right. I didn't see the overspray before.

 

I don’t want to diy my undercoating, a few years back my business partner did it on our lift and he had some time cleaning up the mess

RustKote is a petroleum based product. Get it coated in fall, wash it off in spring.

Every person I ask says something different, TOB, input or pilot lol.

 

From what I've read if the noise goes away in 4th gear then it's the input bearing.

 

My guess is the TOB... so while you're in there, replace the pilot bushing and rear main seal.
I don't have a manual trans in my Tacoma but have had old muscle cars that did. Check for side to side, up/ down movement on the input shaft.

Got my hoist mounted to pull the tent on/off. Still need to tweak the cable lengths on the front end but it’s still super handy

 

Any one running a KOYORAD radiator? I like that the inlet and outlets are almost .4” bigger than the Denso replacement.

 

Pulled the Kings off today..... Daayuum. They need a rebuild bad. Lower bearings are shot and they were super gunky. Excited to go to 650s and a fresh rebuild.


Kinda glad the 4runner has OME. They ride great. But then again, she stays on the black turf

 

Thats one of those shelf systems right? I did the same thing in my last garage. Just be careful when you take the tent off. The cables want to untension with no weight and get all out of place. The cables eventually fall off the pully's if there's no weight to keep them in place on the ends of the arms and are a pain to get back on right. Mostly a problem when you take the tent off and want the rack to sit up by the ceiling.

I wonder if it's the same one. Not sure if your handle is the same, but i found that mine would fit in a drill. Made it super easy to lift and lower. Here is mine, looks pretty similar...

 

I need to pull mine off and get them rebuilt, kinda scared of what they are going to look like.

Replaced the steering rack, rebooted both CVs, changed the oil, and got an alignment. Should be good to go for death valley trip tomorrow.

 

Me too, I'm surprised how well my old truck has held up.
