Update 7/26/2011- TransferFlow is interested; jump to page 3 to read my update. DirtyDawg

I've been searching for a combination tool box & fuel tank for my 2007 Double Cab Long Bed. My desire is to have a tool box with an auxiliary 25 gallons of fuel. Here are some examples:
    http://www.rdsaluminum.com/auto-intro.html

    http://www.transferflow.com/toolbox_tanks_0.html

However, I cannot find one that is designed and built specifically for the Tacoma. If there is interest, I would like to approach these two manufacturers and have them design and quote a product for us.

Transfer Flow requires a minimum of 5 for a custom product..but of course...the more we buy in bulk, the less it will be for everyone.

Any interest? I will be glad to coordinate if I can get a commitment from at least 4 others.

    Thanks!!

Are you allowed to haul gasoline in those ? I thought you could only do diesel.

Yes, gasoline is allowed, but cannot gravity flow into your stock tank. Laws will allow diesel to gravity flow, but gasoline must be siphoned from the top and transferred to your stock tank.

    OK , thanks

I only see machine operators in my area carrying diesel , I didn't think you were allowed to carry gas .

You might want to check again. I have never seen an aluminum or any aux tank that is legal to carry flammable materials. Only combustible materials may legally be carried in transfer tanks. Could be wrong but I am almost positive I am right. Also I don't think anything can be gravity fed into the tank due to damaging the fuel system. I got busted on my old dodge diesel a long time ago.

Some states, like MA, your tank needs to be inspected yearly, or is it every other year? either way the state of MA has to approve of the tank

So, sarcastically saying, the MA government is taxing you on a yearly basis to have a safety supply of gasoline.

Surely I'm not the only Tacoma owner that would like a 750+ mile cruising range without having to stop for gas??

I have thought of this since I got my Taco. I would love to make it to my Dad's in WY from Vegas without stopping. I wanna see how this goes.

look at UWS boxes. Here is the link: http://www.uwsta.com/products/index.php I am buying a chest style box from them. Only ones I could find to fit and my parts dealer will get me one for $215. Everything in that link is for a second gen taco. Hope this helps.

Not sure how this pertains to the fuel part :notsure:

UWS also makes a non chest low pro and higher profile one. Look in my gallery for the low pro version. I'm not sure what the part number is though.
