Last weekend, me and some friends went riding in my 1999 Tacoma with the 3.4 5 speed 4x4 and found a mud hole. I've never been the biggest on mudding because I knew it could easily tear something up so I stick to trail riding and rock crawling but the hole didn't seem to challenging so I decided to hit it and it ended up with my driver side being fairly submerged, water in my cab, and me fairly stuck. With all that to say I'm proud to say I got myself out with no assistants, and have gotten most of the issues I had afterwards worked out, but I've had a new issue appear which is that my truck is struggling to crank(I knew it was getting time for a new battery so it isn't a just popped up issue, I believe it just made it a bit worse), and now when I crank it up and idle, it will idle at about 750 and slowly work up to 1000. It usually idles about 1250 to 1500 right after starting so I'm getting concerned about this. I come from a mechanic family but my dad isn't able to get in our shop anymore due it ALS so I decided to see if anyone on here can diagnose it and possibly give me some advice on fixing it.

Most likey your starter/ or justcontacts are got water in them and are coroded.
Try cleaning the contacts and solenoid, happens more frequently than you think.

My alternator went out after my shenanigans. Id check alternator output as well as clean all electrical contact points between that and the battery. Changed the alternator out cuz it failed and good as new.

I'd check the starter, and then alternator, depending on how deep you submerged your truck. A bunch in my group had starter problems after submarining at Coppinger's Cove.
